Well done punter and team - u guys are a class unit.
One can only
be in awe of what u have shown us during wc.

By the way - i was the only one to choose winner and runner up in myadsl comp - with odds stacked against me, i thought i'd not win this, but hey, cant keep an aussie down now can u. lol

I wish they had taken Donalds advice and called off the world cup after woolmers death :(

Maybe the organisers should have a good look at their rules. I think it's demeaning to the game that a "World Cup" can end with a DL decision. It would be much better to have the best of 3 coin throws.

g-d... after this term the aussies will be world champions for 12 solid years

I wanted Aus to win but really felt for SL. I think Jayawardene tried to concede in the spirit of the game but was not allowed. Umps wanted to come back the next day so he sent his batsmen out to have a result. Really crappy knowing you have lost but to still have to go through that.

Aleem Dar is a cake of an umpire. I read his lips yesterday and he asked Ricky to "please just play for a few minutes more". I mean the batsmen took the light so isn't that game over? And that stump cam view was shocking..

What a farcical ending that was :D

Pretty much somes up the whole tournament :o

Thankfully I took no interest and saved myself the bother :p

Amazing how the Aussies have reached their pinacle while the game has never been lower  .

What a contrast

Well what goes up must come down and SA is gonna be the side to bring the Aussies down. And their form is mainly in the WC, they didn't have a great summer.

Indeed, the Aussies were the deserved winners after SA choked twice against them. Much work is need in SA cricket if we are to be any kind of challenge on the sub-continent in four years...

Starting with....a SPINNER.

Ignoring for the moment the 38 overs per innings and the duckworth-lewis; the difference between the two teams came down to Gilchrist's innings. Without that, the two teams would have been very evenly matched.

The thing with Australia is though, that there is always someone who has a killer game. If it wasn't Gilchrist, it would've been Hayden, or Ponting, or Hussey, or Clark, etc etc.

Oh yes. One last depressing thought: Gilchrist's score = SA's score in the semifinal

Have to agree 100%....if we cannot produce spinners of world class quality we are going to battle.

Actually, I think it's more then that. They need the variaty. Something like:

Out and out paceman
Spinner
Good line and length bowler
Swing bowler
Mix it upper

Wait a sec ..... thats Aus, maybe one of the reasons they won.

Yeh look, SA were really exposed throughout this WC. And the WC is actually good for pin-pointing whats good and bad about cricket in your country.

The flaws in SA's cricket is a result of the system, not the cricketers. Admin is to blame here, no one else, really.

SA's bowling is mundane and ignorant of what really a good cricket side needs. Smart bowlers, proactive and forward thinking admin and selectors.

And we know about the mental side of the game - its crucial.

So much to get right, i hope admin wake up and make things happen NOW.

What use is a spinner or a less "mundane" bowling attack when our batsmen score 149?
