The 40GB has no Backwards compatibility while the 60GB has software emulated backwards compatibility.

How wrong can one person be?

The 60/20 gig PS3 has FULL backwards compatibility.
The 80 gig has emulated backwards compatibility.
The 40 gig has no backwards compatibility.

PS3 is outselling the 360 almost 2:1, for a second week since the introduction of the 40Gb PS3. It might still just be a spike, but I have my doubts.

I agree here. The price has always been the issue. I think the PS3 is a better console. Not hugely, but there are a couple of nice features there. The new R4500 unit is very, very tempting to me (I don't have any PS2 games), although I still think it lacks a good line up of exclusives. If I went and bought one now, all I would buy for it is Resistance. (Sorry abev, my opinion). Thats why I think the time to watch out for the PS3 is mid to late next year.

The Wii however, is the devil incarnate. It's the George Bush of the console World. Ugly, dumb and lacks the ability to do the job, but still wins because of novelty value.

You haven't seen Metroid3 have you? Super Mario Galaxy is also almost here and Medal of Honour:Heroes2, Resident Evil:Umbrella chronicals and Soul Calibre:Legends are also on the way.

1. We never got the 20Gb here so take that out
2. Our 60GB is the PAL version which only ever had SOFTWARE emulation which is not FULL by any stretch
3. We don't have the 80GB model for sale in SA so take that out
4. Yes the 40GB model has no BC...
