2010 German F1 GP

Germany Preview - all to play for at Hockenheim?

As the FIA Formula One World Championship returns to Hockenheim for the first time in two years, the battle for the drivers’ and constructors’ titles could not be more finely balanced. With nine races left, the four leading drivers are separated by only 24 points, while in the team chase McLaren lead Red Bull by 278 points to 249.

With the soccer out of the way, F1 should get the attention it deserves .

Massa hard done by, as was Alonso in the last race with the drive through. However, after the start, it was unbelievably boring. I can't believe I watched the whole race - I could rather have watched a replay of the boks getting klapped by Oz.

More action after the race! Ferrari have been fined $100 000 and their victory has been referred to the WMSC because they have brought the sport into disrepute.

hahaha... F1 is a farce... The rules change so often and have become so confounded that not even the players know wtf is going on.... zzzzzzzzz....

They knew the rules and pushed the boundaries. Why they needed to make the brit the fall guy I have no clue. Ferrari insist that they are building Italian pride by hiring Italians, then the spineless chief gets the brit to make the team orders radio call. Pathetic.
What was worse was Alonso whinging about not being able to take Massa over the radio "This is ridiculous!"

Good grief Alonso, if you can't do it on track, he deserves to be ahead of you. Don't blame Massa.

I felt really sorry for Massa. He's a good driver, but I think that Ferrari don't see him as a potential world champion. He should be congratulated for not going off during the press conference though, handled liek a gentleman.

They should've dropped them 5 positions each cos I don't have either of them in my fantasy league, bloody FIA, no consideration...

Why is everyone so up at arms over this? Its a team sport, is getting the best result for your team really such a bad thing? Sure its against the rules currently, so the fine is 100% justified but I cant help but feel its a crummy rule. You could have the best rugby player in the world playing for your team, but if he is having a bad day the coach wont hesitate to put someone else in his place, how is letting the faster driver overtake safely any different?

Ferrari back on their game in a very long time and I missed it :(

After decades of religiously watching F1, I stopped watching a long time ago and it seems for good reason.

I see both sides of the argument, but for me it comes down to a simple fact. Alonso was so busy complaining about not being able to overtake, that he duffed at least 2 chances. If he thought he was so much faster, stop complaining like some spoiled kid, get on with the driving and prove it.

The only way that would work is if you do away with the drivers championship. Make it a team only sport. However, we all know there would be no F1 without the drivers championship so teams need to let their drivers battle it out on track. Doing it for the sake of the team is like kissing your sister. They will kick themselves if Alonso is injured and out of action till the end of the season.

+1
Alonso is not new to getting team favours - ask Briatore / Piquet.

Well Massa is pretty much out the championship and even if he had won he still would have been far behind.

Makes sense to give alonso the win and help his chances. Massa has looked like the second driver all year. So while he deserved the win he also needs to think about the drivers championship.
