2013: Mweb - lets go back to rolling windows :)

He's really arrogant, isn't he? Keeps shifting the goalposts.

Because being shaped during peak hours is so much worse than having your line speed decreased across the board for days/weeks on end, am I right?

Either way, thanks Mweb Guy. If this is the kind of shjtty attitude your representatives have, then I'll remember to never do business with you guys. I'll cancel my line rental from you guys in December and have it moved back to Telkom while I'm on holiday.

Hi Necuno

I have asked the customer for her MWEB details to make sure she is on a capped account.

If she is on a capped account and received the mailer, then it was sent in error. As mentioned to you before the enforcing of the AUP does not apply to the capped user.

Couldn't agree with you more Zewp. This is why I've moved to Afrihost. They provide realtime status of how your line is running AND show you exactly what shaping is applied on p2p/torrents etc. Add to that they always explain in detail why it's happening. Oh...and if their network is not under pressure they don't give a damn if you dl 500gb+...heck they encourage it.

And I'm sure that you, Zewp, can sing the praises of OpenWeb :D

Take a page from your competitors Mweb...tranceparency is the best option.

When the mail servers at Mweb are full, Mweb deletes the mails instead of improving the infrastructure I guess now they want to play the same game with ADSL? Their Mweb business service has been absolute **** ever since they merged all their departments to save money. That's why their support is so horrible and useless. Rather go with Openweb or Webafrica etc Mweb is a company that is blatantly dishonest and stingy.

Reading through their email ToS, what kind of goddamn noddy operation is Mweb running?

6. Upon cancellation of your subscription you will lose and MWEB will re-claim your username and mail address.
MWEB may re-issue your username and mail address to a new subscriber 90 days after termination of your
MWEB subscription. It is your responsibility to inform everyone so that they do not inadvertently send mail
intended for you to the new subscriber.

I'm really expected to inform 250+ people/companies/newsletters/subscription services etc that my email address has changed? WTF! Why not just assign all new customers new emails instead of assigning someone a recycled email address? Not only is this incredibly daft, but it is also a major security concern.

I keep getting email clearly not intended for me, I thought it was some glitch, not an official policy....

I don't know why they can't just announce it as a loosely capped then throttled service.

So say 4mb is 250gb after which you only get a 1mb connection.

They do this on their Business Capped services, so it's not like the technology isn't in place already.

I actually can't believe that they do this. I'm now too scared to cancel my capped account with them, because I can't even begin to remember everything that's tied to my Mweb email address.

You can keep your MWEB email and get a 1GB capped account for R29pm. I downgraded to that before I changed ISP's, so that for the 1 month notice period, I would only pay R29 and not the full R199. A good option for people to use if they are deciding to cancel. Just downgrade your account to a 1GB Capped account, and you'll save some cash while you wait for your 1 month notice period to be over.

I see the firefighting isn't going so well for a certain rep today. No sympathy this side given that its a self lit fire...

I think we should hold regular pogroms on mybb too. Top 3% by highest post rate. Even better, we'll never run out of people since someone is always the top 3%. Well until we hit zero members anyway.

Phone them and ask to switch to the mailbox only option. Its like 50 bucks or something. They don't advertise it or even mention it anywhere but its there if you what to ask for.

The recycling emails thing is a bit of a joke though...

The thing is abusers are out of luck everywhere because in all the major ISP's they have full right to bring down the hammer on you. I put together a list, visit the isp of choice and search for "Usage"

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...sage-Policy-Information-Links-For-Major-ISP-s

Abusing is using your line?
Abusing is having a family using your home uncapped?
Abusing is making use of HD streaming?
Abusing is making use of digital distributors?
Abusing is updating your devices?
Abusing is making use of your smart tv?
Abusing is making use of your console?

Its more than just "abuse". You might want to take the red pill and see it for what it is; there's no definition on what is abuse from mweb's side. They keep on saying that you should stick to the limits, but what is the limits? They don't want to share the limits because they want to keep on defining it in smokey rooms. Don't you at all find a problem with this?

But yes please live on in your world of acceptance, your world of giving a helping hand towards the greed that is choking us, please go on and pay them to take your money and give little in return.

Enjoy your zeraw; its the fulcrum of your world.

It's cheaper to take the 1GB capped product at R29pm. You'll keep the mailbox, and you'll have a backup account for the time you choose to keep the subscription.

Left Mweb last month and have been on Afrihost for a month now (didn't use mweb much last month) and I see I got an email saying my usage is too high aswell  :wtf:
Used to auto forward my mweb e-mails to my main email address, am surprised the rule is still in place considering my account was closed down at the end of June and I stopped using mweb round about the 15th

DIE MWEB!!!! DIE!!!!!!

And they will, if people cancel their accounts - pointless fighting with the #MWEB monkey's! Just cancel.
They'll kark themselves later and we'll just all be smiling.

Then again, they might then launch

"FREE THE WEB 2 - Let's hope we don't fark up" the sequal! :D

If they made this error, what other 'errors' did they make.... aaah uncapped... Ooops error, it is capped, but they may not tell us what the capping/throttling parameters are..

two faced to say the least!

I might have gotten a mail as well then, I had a few steam and origin downloads lined up.
