Hi All

Do these Figo's have a "Engine Run-in" when they are still new?

My mom inlaws has about 12000km and it seems to hesitate under acceleration.

Thanks

I know that on performance cars the sales guys recommend a few thousand km before you start pulling the car through its arse.

But at 12000km, even if there was a recommended run in period on the Figo, it should be long past.

12000km in 2 years. It could have carbon build up, especially if it only does short runs.

It needs a nice long run to blow out all the cobwebs :D

That's what I was thinking. It does sit alot in the garage at home...

Then you are wasting money on a car, that you don't need. :D
She's my weekend car. Paid off 4 years ago. I do high mileage, so I use another car for work. And where I stay I don't have covered parking so I rather leave the car at home (parents) where's it's under cover.

It's the first car I ever bought myself so I'm not letting it go easily. Also mileage is split to the bike too. Which keeps milage off the car.

Weekend car is meant to be a fun to drive car...

I drive my one car 30 000km a year, and it brings a smile everytime.

I average 55k km per annum. My fiesta is loads of fun to drive. But I love the car too much to expose it to all the idiots denting it in mall parking lots daily. Having the sun eat the paint.

Not to mention I can't afford to use it for work since I'd need to service every 4 months. Insurance would increase too.

As a weekend car I can enjoy it whilst keeping it in the best condition.

My Fiesta in the last 3 years averaged 3k km per annum. Runs like a dream still.

Bet your avg speed is higher in that 3k per annum than OP's mum in laws :p

@catman37 - I see you in East Rand. Do a midnight run on the freeway loop. R21 N to Pretoria till N1 interchange, then N1 S Via Midrand to Soweto, Down N12 past Alberton, N3 then R24 and back to East.

Midnight so the speeds can be kept higher up for longer
