2016 Chev Volt

If the Nissan Leaf is R474K, how much will this be?

if you have to ask, you cant afford it....

also battery life? and charging infrastructure, both of those are lacking severely!

still like EV's but they are glorified golf cars in their current shape!

we need a few more years to really get things moving, wish somebody would make a electric "peoples car"

almost like a model T/ Beetle but electric,

AKA Tesla.

As they produce more, the cost per vehicle will drop. I'd say Tesla will have a 'budget' car within the next 5 years.

Just remember if you pose *one* question you can count on buddy-guy eg2505 to come in & take that same single Q & generate into at least a five questions jobbie

definitely, problem is mainly the batteries, always was, always is.....

maybe fuel cell is the way forward?

Which is why Musk is building his Gigafactory, to make the batteries cheaper.
Next decade is going to be an interesting one for vehicles.

only problem with that, is the raw materials for those, I mean they still got to be shipped
and they not exactly environmentally friendly to mine that...

so I suppose its all relative, in a lifetime of use, how much CO2 will those cars save?
lots of questions still remain....

Fuel cell development is lagging far behind batteries. The advantage of battery improvements is that they will filter thru to all batteries, so cellphones etc should all benefit. Hihger capacity, faster recharge and longer lifetimes.

It's all about economy of scale, start focusing on making better batteries and the price will drop, demand will increase and electric will become much more common.

think a bit about it, cars were expensive,
but the model t, VW beetle (old one) and morris minor made motoring affordable,

we should have that again, but with a EV, like the chevy EV1, but use your imagination what happened there!

Oh, now I get you... You should have said Ford model T

I hear you, but we in 2016 now,

and battery tech, even li-on tech has not advanced as much as its possible.....
I mean EV's take 14 hours to recharge, ok quick charge and all that, but still 60 Min.

until the recharge times fall, and the infrastructure exists, they are just a curiosity......
a very expensive curiosity at that...

fuel cell, I think is a better idea, refueling is done at a "petrol" station" takes 3 min and can drive for 3-400 KM's
almost like a regular car, only problem right now is how to store hydrogen efficiently, and without causing explosions....

I think that is a solution right now, until battery tech catches up to EV's
