Fuel cell development is lagging far behind batteries. The advantage of battery improvements is that they will filter thru to all batteries, so cellphones etc should all benefit. Hihger capacity, faster recharge and longer lifetimes.
It's all about economy of scale, start focusing on making better batteries and the price will drop, demand will increase and electric will become much more common.
I hear you, but we in 2016 now,
and battery tech, even li-on tech has not advanced as much as its possible.....
I mean EV's take 14 hours to recharge, ok quick charge and all that, but still 60 Min.
until the recharge times fall, and the infrastructure exists, they are just a curiosity......
a very expensive curiosity at that...
fuel cell, I think is a better idea, refueling is done at a "petrol" station" takes 3 min and can drive for 3-400 KM's
almost like a regular car, only problem right now is how to store hydrogen efficiently, and without causing explosions....
I think that is a solution right now, until battery tech catches up to EV's
