Hi all,

I drive a 2016 Ford Kuga 1.5 Ecoboost Ambiente Auto. Lovely car but what seems to irritate me a lot about the car is the stop start technology. It seems to be jerky. Sometimes it will start up seamlessly other times the car will start jittery/jumpy, shaking the car (Best way to describe the feeling: it feels like the gearbox are basically forcing the car into gear, like one would experience in a manual). Sometimes it would switch off only to start back up immediately.

I have driven other cars with stop start technology, including the new Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost auto, and the operation of the stop start works perfectly (no shaking of the car; i almost don't notice the stop start; and it would only turn back on when i accelerate).

I know that one can manually turn it off with the switch but this is not a permanent solution as one have to turn it off every new journey.

Like I said, a lovely car (albeit not very fuel efficient). I am curious if other Kuga owners are experiencing the same issue?

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

I drive a Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost Manual. I hate stop/start so I just switch it off every time I get into the car.

Wondering if you ever got this sorted? My Kuga has the exact problem you've described. Taken it into Ford Randburg and it's still not fixed.

Make the workshop/dealership document their feedback on the issue on a dealership letterhead, signed by the workshop manager and dealer principal. You may be surprised at the outcome...

Unfortunately not, during the last service at Silver Lakes I was advised that the issue might be as a result of the battery charge not being what it is supposed to be and that a replacement of the battery might be a solution. Please keep me informed if you make any progress with this issue.

Dealers are probably making more money selling batteries than what owners are saving on fuel with this stop/start mediocrity.

Hi there all. I am having a bit of trouble with my kuga 1.6 ecoboost. We done the software on it with downpipe afterwards, the car was running like a bomb until now. I had an exhaust leak and had to remove the turbo to repair this not sure if the wastegate was maybe moved but car is not pulling like it use to and somethimes get the engine light coming on with O2 sensor issues. Any advise what to do or check for?
