2016 Opel Corsa OPC

Opel power ratings are often inflated though ; they run with cars 10-15% lower than what they claim. So I see this running nicely with the 130kw cars out there

Care to provide some proof as to this statement?

Well, their old 177kw Astra OPC was running with Golf GTIs ... the fancier new 206kw OPC is marginally quicker than a GTI ... that fancy OPC 240kw overseas thing Roux keeps talks about barely breaks 7 second. That's 3 of 3

Lol - no. My "old" stock 177kw OPC kicked all then current stock Gti's (up to Gti6 - never ran against a 7) in their knackers. The 206 kw OPC is a dud in my opinion - gearbox is shyte, hence me not purchasing it. Have no idea about the 240kw OPC you are referring to?

Not sure how?

http://www.carmag.co.za/news/shootout-star-opel-astra-opc/

and that translates to a zero to 100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h!

Pretty much every local test has it mid 7's which is around the 147kw Golf 5 at the time ... http://www.carmag.co.za/news/vw-golf-5-gti/

EDIT : Here's the thing Roux likes to tell us about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Insignia#OPC It's 239kw ... but do yourself a favour and see what the speeds are like this for this performance Opel.

This chipped one is beaten by a stock Golf6R on rolling :/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q96fctMyrgE

Insignia has not had the same LSD/steering treatment as the newer Astra OPC. I just love it because I miss big Opels.

Not a single comment about the longevity of a small displacement engine or that the turbo will definitely give problems. Must be because Opels are sooo reliable.

Oh dear. Carmag is it? Firstly, those figures are wrong - swapped around maybe. I have never seen a test before when the OPC came in at 7.6 seconds. Refer this:

http://fastestlaps.com/cars/opel_astra_opc_05.html

Secondly, good old VW(SA) has a very strange record going for it. Always seems that when it comes to performance tests in SA they seem to exceed manufacturers claimed speed figures.

Lastly, I am talking about real life experience. Diced a few Gti's; but what was always most intriguing was how many Gti owners did not want to dice me in my "old" OPC.

Absolute nonsense. When I purchased my OPC; I read every test going for every car around. The OPC was the best monster for the buck at the time; and destroyed the comparable Gti's. So much so I almost coughed up for personalised number plates. As in "BYBYGTI" :D. Only problem was, I wanted that damn sexy car immediately and didn't want to wait a few extra days :)

Umm - you trolling? Seeing as the latest and greatest engines on the planet are "small displacement" engines with turbo's? And as for the reliability of Opel's, I can testify to that myself.

Notice the slight discrepancy according to your link?

EDIT: I just realised this was not a road test; even though my search criteria was based on this. Will look further :)

DOUBLE EDIT: I also just realised that one of your links was also not a road test - as in "Volkswagen claims the six-speed manual version will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7,2 seconds and reach a top speed of 235 km/h.
