2016 Opel Corsa OPC

Absolute nonsense. When I purchased my OPC; I read every test going for every car around. The OPC was the best monster for the buck at the time; and destroyed the comparable Gti's

Again, not sure where you read tests. I can't recall the OPC cracking 7 seconds. It isn't slow by any means - but I'd wager any other car with similar power to be quicker.

Here's another test for you which - although still cracking 7 seconds is better

With its extra power, the OPC beat the Focus’ 7,49 seconds 0-100 km/htime with a best of 7,05.

So much so I almost coughed up for personalised number plates. As in "BYBYGTI" :D

Lucky you didn't ; could have been embarrassing as they'd probably never even see the back of your car ;)

Anyway - they're not swapped around. If they were and it was 6.7 seconds, that's be the time of the current 206kw OPC, so unless the previous and the current are the exact same speeds ....

Bleh - that's a chubby sedan that is so not relevant to this discussion. And never released in SA to boot.

Only brought up because you asked for proof? You cant ask for proof and then decide after the fact you'd rather exclude it for some reason like it's chubby or not not sold here. Fact is nothing Opel makes runs with another car of the same power.

I also just realised that one of your links was also not a road test - as in "Volkswagen claims the six-speed manual version will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7,2 seconds and reach a top speed of 235 km/h.

Correct - so let's add 0.3 second to the claim so we're real world. 7.6 vs 7.5 seconds?

Hardly a bashing or killing or slaughtering. We're talking a bonnet length or so on 147kw vs 177kw car - which is exactly what I said in the beginning, They wouldn't see your plates

Not a single comment about the longevity of a small displacement engine or that the turbo will definitely give problems. Must be because Opels are sooo reliable.
The OPC turbo cars are solid, you can still find some of the Astra G OPCs with high mileage and they have had no drivetrain breakdowns. Same goes for the Corsa D OPC.

What about all the Xhosa OPC's that fried number 4 cylinder due to fuelling issue. A friend of mine had her Xhosa's engine replaced twice in 60K kms due to this.

This is true. The first Corsa OPC 1.6T motors had fuel injectors which were to small and would cause the motor to run lean under high rpm and high load conditions. These were never recalled, but later versions had bigger injectors running lower duty cycles which negated the issue.

It doesn't really matter what you may recall, dear chap. I know, because that's why I spent my money on it back in Oct 2006. And no, it would not have been embarrassing, because I never had a stock Gti beat me. And trust me, they did see my number plate :)

Obviously though, you did not realise your posting of the OPC with its "extra power" over the ST actually disproved what your original post was about. Need me to explain it to you?

ST is good for one thing, and that is not being a VW. If you want the best then it is the OPC. Clio is also a nice alternative, but not on the same level as the OPC.

JK8 is that you?

I thought he was the only MyBB member that could out drive every motoring journalist and the manufactures as well. Guess we have another though :P He got his Polo GTI to run 6s and keep up with insane level cars because, well, he knew how to launch and no one else could.

Motoring mag A gets 7.05 sec ... B gets 7.4 ... C gets 7.2 ... D gets 7.35 ... Splinter, however, get's 6.8. You should show them your ways :P

Anyway - I'm not arguing with you again.

My opinion is that for what they put out, they're not as quick as you think. 7 seconds by motoring journalists in a best case scenario for a 177kw hot hatch isn't that great *shrug*

Umm - where did I state 6.8?

And I love how you gloss over the fact that your own post disproved what you were saying :D

Oh; "not arguing with you again"; but yet you post something to argue with me after that? That's funny :). And again - it's just your opinion. I keep on telling you about real world experience and you blithely ignore it. Why is that?

It's actually because I don't even know what you're talking about - and asking you is just going to go in circles. I'm also used to people that know and understand cars around me, so I find it difficult arguing with someone that doesn't.

Oh; "not arguing with you again"; but yet you post something to argue with me after that? That's funny :)

After that, I was stating my opinion. We can agree to disagree. Perhaps you have a once off super duper OPC that no one else has? It is possible and in that case, I apologies.

I keep on telling you about real world experience and you blithely ignore it. Why is that?

That's right - because tests and reviews all over the world aren't real world ;)

I would take some manufactures claims with a pinch of salt *cough VW*. Also any SA mag/review on a VAG seems to miraculously get better times than anywhere else in the world!

The Fiesta ST is nice, but there is no way it is a 6.9sec car, it can't hold its own against any of the other "little hot hatches" out there (I'm talking real world here, not friend of my friends neighbour said). The one thing i will give VAG is there Polo GTi is very quick for its engine size!

But when we get to the bigger hot hatches, you have to have a stage 1 GTi to have a chance of out running anything in its class, so how does it miraculously thrash everything else standard ?

Car looks outdated for some reason, especially the exterior.
It's because the lines look familiar... alot like the old one. I wonder if its a face lift or if they're reusing body panels.

I beg to differ. I have surprised many a Golf GTI, 5 , 6 and 7 with my ST. Even when I was stock.
