Stones to City. 42m + add ons. He's been added to the CL squad that had to be registered last night, so apparently it's official, just waiting announcement.

Thats a good buy....will certainly make them stronger if he plays like he has been

David Luiz is/was never worth 50m

If you refering to expensive flops, I think you thinking of your own team or should I say Southampton 2.0

Carroll, Bentake, Lallana, Downing, etc

Since 92 till now Pool has spent £917,805,000 and sold for £539,300,000 with 0 EPL title to show for it...

We all know that. The only flops were Carroll and Downing.

What about Blind, Rojo, Depay, Sweinstiger, Fellaini, Herrrara, etc.

PALACE IN TALKS FOR BENTEKE

Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Christian Benteke from Liverpool. Palace have returned to the negotiating table after their £25m bid was turned down last month.

Liverpool value the striker at £32m, and believe that is fair considering the prices currently being paid for players by Premier League clubs.

Palace are keen to complete the deal before their first game of the season against West Brom on Saturday.

Liverpool paid Aston Villa £32.5m for Benteke last summer.

Worst move for him imo. If you look at City's record wrt English youngsters I don't have a lot of hope for him. A club were you could effectively be replaced in the very next transfer window is not the best career move for any youngster, especially a young defender.

We'll have to see I suppose.

Noticed that City only submitted 21 names from 25. More to come from them in this window

Working with Pep though...

Yes, was gonna say that. Pep likes his ball playing CBs.

Sure, but at a club who makes 5/6 signings every window you could find your self surplus to requirements very quickly. At his age he needs regular football, not saying he's not going to get it but with everyone fit he's competing against Kompany, Otamendi and Mangala.

We'll have to see were he fits in the pecking order. City could very well just sign another 25-28 year old defender next season and then what. I think it's a move he should have made a little later in his career imo.

We'll have to see though.

Mangala hasn't been great. Otamendi started coming right but he's still not what they're looking for. Kompany is getting older and he's starting to break down more easily. His hamstring seems quite fragile. Stones will get plenty of game time.

This.

Mangala has been pretty bad
Kompany spent most of last season on the treatment table

Stones is quite fragile though (mentally) and it showed at Everton so it's going to be interesting to see what happens.

Sure, but what happens if they buy another defender next window, basically the point I'm making. Defenders normally hit their prime a bit later. At 22 that is a lot of transfer windows he's got to negotiate without simply being replace by a defender in his prime.

Well, they would only buy a replacement if he sucks :o

He just have to have an above average season and he should be fine really...ball's in his court.

Then he'll be a very rich dude relaxing on the bench for a while. I think they'll try to make it work though, and to be honest, you can say the same about a lot of clubs.

Maybe City is bolstering their English contingent
