Maruti Baleno, WagonR recalled over a fuel pump issue - Team-BHP​

Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for its Baleno and WagonR models over a potential defect in a fuel pump motor component.

11,851 units of the Baleno and 4,190 units of the WagonR manufactured between July 30, 2019, and November 1, 2019, are affected.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the defective fuel pump motor component could lead to engine stalling or starting problems. Although it's rare, the carmaker has decided to recall the vehicles as a precautionary measure.

Authorized Maruti Suzuki dealer workshops will contact owners to get the faulty component replaced free of cost. Customers can check if their vehicle is among those recalled by entering the chassis number on Maruti Suzuki's official website.

India-made Suzuki Baleno scores 2 stars in Latin NCAP crash test - Team-BHP​



The made-in-India Suzuki Baleno has been awarded a 2-star rating by Latin NCAP. The hatchback scored 79% for adult occupant protection and 65% for child occupant protection.

The car offered good protection to the head and neck of the driver and passenger in the frontal impact test. Their chest showed adequate protection, while their knees and tibias showed marginal protection.

The head, abdomen and pelvis protection was rated as good in the side pole impact test, while chest and abdomen protection was adequate.

The Baleno offered full protection to the 1.5-year-old and 3-year-old child dummies, preventing head exposure. Both dummies showed full protection in the side impact test.

The test car was equipped with 6 airbags, seatbelt pretensioner and load limiter, seatbelt reminder, ESC and ISOFIX.

Latin NCAP also tested the Baleno equipped with dual airbags. It was awarded a 1-star rating.

The Suzuki Baleno, produced in India, achieved one star. The Baleno that offers 2 airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard achieved 42.28% in Adult Occupant, 65.46% in Child Occupant, 48.28% in Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users and 58.14% in Safety Assist.

The car was assessed in frontal impact, side impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection, and ESC. Pole impact test was not performed as the model does not offer side head protection as standard.

As a result of Latin NCAP selecting the 2 airbags version of the Baleno, Suzuki decided to improve the basic equipment of the best-selling passenger car in Chile adding standard side body and side curtain airbags for all the region. The updated Baleno with 6 airbags, was tested and achieved two stars.

The model achieved 79.38% in Adult Occupant, 65.46% in Child Occupant, 48.28% in Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users and 58.14% in Safety Assist. The car was assessed in frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, whiplash, pedestrian protection, and ESC. The result is valid for units from VIN MBHWBA3S9TGA45406.
