2017/18 Transfers and Rumours

I'm loving it. It's almost as if our new managerial team is doing everything that AW didn't want to.

Previously: we need a new spine. I think I'll buy another midfielder.

Now: we need a new spine. Ok, let's buy a GK, a RB, a CB, and a CDM.
4th place is ours now. You're not getting it back

I wonder why United didn't take Ronaldo. It's probably safe to assume it was his first choice, and the £88.3m fee wouldn't have been an issue, so you have to assume Mourinho just didn't want him. Maybe he can't co-exist with Lukaku and Rashford? Seems stupid to not try make it work - someone who can put goals away like that is generally what wins league titles.

It wasn't his first choice. He wanted Manchester United but they turned down the chance to sign him. They have other targets in mind.

I would say that it is because the numbers don't make sense for United at 88m. United have huge contracts already signed; Juventus will get far more leverage from the money spent it seems.

I never in my Wildest dreams would have put my money on Juventus. But I guess after all Juve past troubles, they want to put themselves back in the running. They just did by signing a great player.

Like? :)

PS - I agree with you. Would make no sense at that price for one of the highest profile clubs in the world. They are building for the for the future; not trying to build a higher profile.

I’m so sad he never made it back to Manutd. I bet Mourinho said no.

I would blerry well hope so.

“I would blerry well hope so.”

You thought the same thing when JM signed 35 year old Zlatan. Ronaldo still has much more.

Stunning move by juve.Ronaldo doesn't improve their league position but maybe they can push for the champions league.

Why not Juve? Beaten finalist 2 years ago losing to RM, semi-finalist again losing to RM in the Semi's. Juve have all the credentials now they will have a star signing - not that Higuain, Dybala etc aren't but CR7 will improve their image, viewership and shirt sales! Awesome piece of work done by Juve!

I can just imagine the headlines if "CR7 wins the CL with Juve"... If that happens he would be the only player to win the CL with 3 different teams/countires and club... Record deals!

Now wtf is Juve doing about the goalkeeping situation... Wojciech Szczesny can't be the new number 1...

Zlatan was a free transfer.

Edit: and even Zlatan at 250,000 ponds a week, that's apparently a bit cheaper than what Ronaldo is getting. After an 88 million pound transfer fee.

So does this mean Dybala will be coming this way? :D

Dybala and Mandžukić have more than a bit of overlap in their preferred CAM positions, and tbh I'd favour the latter. Higuaín might get upset though if his 'great friend' Dybala gets the boot, so Juve could feel strongly incentivised to keep him around.

Seedorf.

I'm also surprised he didn't go to united or even city.

Why? He has already conquered england. If he left rm it was always going to be bundes liga or serie a.

Good signing for juve and the league.

Been a quite busy transfer window so far.

The Italian league has been the top scoring league for the past couple of seasons. He would go there. OTOH it has VAR. Other option would have been a PSG swap if Neymar had been interested.
