The Currie Cup kicks off this Friday. Strength versus strength is the word from the echelon of SA Rugby. A little short-sighted, maybe? Only 7 teams in the competition, which excludes the Kings, who will feel aggrieved that they've been snubbed.

Code:
1	Toyota Free State Cheetahs
2	Cell C Sharks XV
3	Tafel Lager Griquas
4	Vodacom Blue Bulls
5	Steval Pumas
6	Xerox Golden Lions
7	DHL Western Province
The following fixtures planned for July:

Code:
21	[B]Free State Cheetahs v Sharks[/B] - Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein - 19:00
22	[B]Griquas v Blue Bulls[/B] Tafel Lager Park, Kimberley - 19:30
23	[B]Pumas v Golden Lions[/B] - Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit - 14:30
29	[B]Golden Lions v Griquas[/B] - Emirates Airline Park, Johannesburg - 12:00
29	[B]Sharks v Pumas[/B] - Growthpoint Kings Park, Durban - 17:00
30	[B]Free State Cheetahs v Western Province[/B] - Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein - 14:30

Currie Cup on a Sunday? :wtf: The Dominee aint gonna be happy!
Solong as there is a TV near.

Remember many moons ago at my cousins wedding, there was a TV and all. The ceremony finished just before the final started.
Like flies to rotten meat all the men attending filled into the room in seconds, even the groom.
That is because Rugby is important, it is life!

I can beat that tale of yours....

It was a dry, hot Saturday afternoon in The Namib desert town of Oranjemund, The Moose and The English HO were getting married, first at the magistrate and then party at the local rugby club......

The English HO, knowing her man very well, had issued strict instructions, that under no circumstances were any of the televisions down at the club be allowed on...... It mattered not that the Welsh were playing the Boks that afternoon....... Her wedding came first.....

So the afternoon dragged on, much alcohol consumed, the guests seemingly oblivious to what was happening out in the real world....

For some strange reason The Moose seemed quite happy with the state of affairs.....

For the main table faced the guests and then the bar behind them...... and if The English HO had been more alert, she would have noticed a wee chalk board , stuck above the bar and every few minutes the barman would go and scribble some writing on it....... just for The Moose....

It all came crashing down, when The English HO discovered the bar staff in the storeroom listening to the "draadloos" , keeping scores and then passing them onto The Moose, by writing them up on the chalk board....

Almost the shortest wedding I had ever attended....

:D

How will the Cheetahs and Kings' entry into the Pro12/Pro14 affect their Currie Cup participation?
Probably let the young guns play in the Currie cup
Probably the only way to do it. If they don't field their best teams in Pro14 they will lose respect and endorsement. Currie Cup will have to be left to the young guns to compete the season.
