In this episode Jonny Smith convinces Kia to let him take a brand new Picanto GT Line on the Landsend Trial. This may be the most cost effective motorsport left, but it's definitely not the mildest.

The trial was designed over 100 years ago to prove the robustness and reliability of new motorcycles. Then cars started entering. 2024 marked the 100th running event, so Jonny wanted to see if a new car could handle the punishment.

bit expensive for what you get, Id rather get a used Honda Jazz than this brand new,
but I guess rental companies will buy this in droves.

dont know about the looks, a bit too cyberpunk to me, even though underneath its the same car.
almost like the Micra, that went from cute and round to sharp and square.
 
REVIEW: Kia Picanto 1.0 LX is small for its price, but big on quality

VERDICT

You could say that the new Kia Picanto is expensive for its size, but it is well equipped even at base level and it imparts a sensation of quality and workmanship that is a station above what you’d reasonably expect at this price point. If you’re happy to sacrifice size for quality, the new Picanto is very worthy of consideration.

But don’t overlook other options like Hyundai’s popular Grand i10. And if you really want to save money it will be hard to ignore the similarly sized Suzuki Celerio and Toyota Vitz twins, which are around R70,000 cheaper in base form, albeit with less equipment.
