Nissan Kicks Street Sport Concept
The Urban Dictionary defines "kicking it" as "chilling out or relaxing." The term might need to be reconsidered when applied to the aggressive look and performance of the Nissan Kicks Street Sport. Starting with a bone stock Nissan Kicks compact crossover, the team at MA Motorsports worked with Nissan Motorsports to cross many lines of conformity in bringing this ultimate Kicks to life.
The Kicks' body was dramatically transformed using Kicks Color Studio touches and custom pieces from 360 Composites - including an oversize front air dam, rear roof spoiler and side skirts. MA Motorsports fabricated the wide fender flares at each corner to perfectly fit the Volk Racing TE37V 17x8.5 +30 offset wheels mounted with Falken Azenis RT615K +245/45R17 tires. To help give the Nissan Kicks Street Sport the right stance and name-worthy handling, a custom suspension was constructed using a combination of NISMO/Ohlins coil-over shock absorbers.
Next, the MA Motorsports team turned its attention to kicking up the stock 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, fabricating and installing a custom turbocharger kit. The new system utilizes a Garrett GT2255 turbocharger, Turbosmart diverter valve and UPREV ECU. A custom fabricated NISMO exhaust helps the engine breathe.

The Nissan Kicks, I am sorry to say, is a car that I cannot bring myself to care about. Not only am I resentful it replaced the objectively funky Nissan Juke here in the United States, its name also promises something far more interesting than it actually is. Like calling cottage cheese Super Duper Savory Power Food That Will Make You Famous And Also Rich™. But the Nissan Kicks Street Sport that was just unveiled at this year’s SEMA show? That is the only good Kicks.
The Kicks Street Sport is another one of Nissan’s one-offs at SEMA that you cannot buy. It uses a custom oversize front air dam, rear roof spoiler and side skirts, according to a press release. MA Motorsports created the wide fender flares that house the six-spoke, gold Volk wheels which I love, love, love. The Street Sport also has a custom suspension system that was made from a combination of Nismo and Ohlins coil-over shocks.
The engine has a custom Garrett GT2255 turbocharger, Turbosmart diverter valve and UPREV ECU, as well as a specially built Nismo exhaust. Inside, you’ll find Sparco carbon bucket seats. My inner Tokyo Drift spirit is screaming with happiness.

The Nissan Kicks Won't Start at Less Than $20,000 Anymore
For model year 2023, Nissan is increasing the Kicks' price.
The Nissan Kicks, one of the few cars left that still start at less than $20,000, will no longer have that distinction for 2023, Nissan confirmed this week. Instead, the base Kicks S will start at $20,290. The other trims of the Kicks are receiving minor price bumps as well.
The Kicks SV will now start at $22,150, while the Kicks SR will start at $22,850. All three versions of the Kicks will have destination fees of $1,295 tacked on. Aside from that, not much has changed about the 2023 Kicks compared to 2022, though there is some suggestion that, for 2024 or 2025, we could be getting a bigger, more SUV-er Kicks to plug the hole that is the outgoing Nissan Rogue Sport.
“With the all-new Rogue and recently redesigned Kicks, we will continue to cover this part of [the] market effectively,” Nissan Vice President Scott Shirley said recently in a memo recently obtained by Automotive News, referring to a 2020 facelift. Auto News also reported the following:

The first-generation Nissan Kicks fell into the former category; the subcompact crossover was handsome but nothing to write home about. Nissan is remedying that with the second-gen 2025 Kicks, which is easily the best new Nissan design in years.
Despite the Qashqai still existing in Europe (and the current third-gen model looking great), we aren’t getting it as the Rogue Sport in the U.S. anymore, so the new Kicks has grown to fill its spot in the lineup. Compared to the old Kicks, the new one is 2.3 inches longer, 1.6 inches wider and 0.9 inch taller, and its wheelbase has been stretched by nearly 2 inches. It’s slightly smaller in each dimension than the Rogue Sport was, and despite the growth in size the 2025 Kicks is still pretty tiny.
The 2025 Kicks rides on an updated version of the old car’s platform, but the engine is all new. Its naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-4 makes 141 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque, increases of 19 hp and 26 lb-ft over the previous model’s 1.6-liter four. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) remains the only option. All-wheel drive is now available for the first time on the Kicks, and the system includes a Snow driving mode. Along with the growth in size, the new Kicks is around 300 pounds heavier than the old model, with AWD adding another couple hundred pounds. Nissan hasn’t announced performance figures, but it should be quicker to accelerate despite the additional mass. Regardless of drivetrain the Kicks’ ground clearance has grown by 1.4 inches to 8.4 inches, which Nissan says is the best in the segment.
