Nissan Kicks crossover coming to Europe, and will be built in UK
Japanese firm to invest £170m to build hybrid versions of global B-segment SUV in Sunderland
Nissan will bring its popular Kick crossover to Europe with hybrid power – and build it at its Sunderland plant following an investment worth £170 million.
The B-segment machine was launched in 2016 with a focus on Brazil, and the second generation model, launched in 2024, is currently manufactured in that country, Japan and Mexico. While the Kicks has never previously been offered in Europe it is sold in most of Nissan’s other global markets.
The Kicks will be offered in the UK and Europe with Nissan’s e-Power hybrid powertrain, which is already offered on the Sunderland-built Qashqai, although full technical details of the model have yet to be revealed.

And the Kicks will be built in the Nissan’s Sunderland factory, too
Nissan will bring a car called ‘Kicks’ to Europe… along with another Twingo-sized thing called ‘Pixo’. We’ll see the latter next week.
The former? Well, it’ll come as a shock that this car falls firmly into the category of ‘compact crossover’ – wonder if they’ll ever catch on? – motivated by Nissan’s ‘e-power’ hybrid drivetrain.
More importantly for UK PLC, it’ll be built in Nissan’s Sunderland plant, which celebrates 40 years of knocking out Nissans in 2026.
Kicks, huh. It’s already on sale elsewhere around the world and is currently in its second iteration. We’ve already driven it across the pond, dubbing it a ‘decently priced youthful crossover’.
