Had this discussion recently. The prices of the new cars and their features (lack thereof) are just ridiculous. I blame the people who pay these crazy amounts for crap like this. I think these Corollas are the ugliest of them all.

You can find many wrong things with that Toyota, the price, looks but lack of features is not one of them, compare it with other cars in that price range and see for yourself.

Slightly off topic but does the 2016 quest have the new corrolla's engine
And are the chassis the same?
 
I don't think we all realize how much the Rand has devalued in recent years. I know I still remember the price of things around 5 years ago and that is the benchmark I use to judge current prices. But in value terms, I think the Rand is worth half what it was 5 years ago in the global context. The exchange rate is only part of the problem. There are so many additional taxes and duties now and our salaries have not increased at the 10 to 15% rate per year required to maintain global buying power. Cars are thus ridiculously expensive.
