Aston Martin V12 Vantage announced as the final iteration of its kind

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage has been a heritage product for the British sportscar maker unveiled it as a flagship option in 1999, under the guise of the DB7 badge. While this model will continue with an all-new variant in 2022, the brand confirms that the upcoming example will be its last.

The quick 14 second teaser video posted on its YouTube channel hints at the Aston Martin V12 Vantage with a quick start-up and rev-out while displaying the V12 badge.

Together with the Aston Martin V12 Vantage teaser, the brand says “You’ve heard about it. You will certainly hear it coming. V12 Vantage. It’s not just a Limited Edition, it’s a Final Edition.

British rival to the Porsche 911 Turbo S will return for one final generation next year

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage will return for one final generation in 2022, and a new teaser hints at how it will be marked out from the standard V8 car.

Shown next to its predecessors in a darkened image, the new 12-cylinder car looks to feature a bespoke front end with a much larger front grille – similar to that of the hardcore Vantage F1 Edition – and new vertical air intakes. Just about visible is a downforce-enhancing front splitter, which will likely be made from carbonfibre.

Aston previously announced that the new Porsche 911 Turbo S rival will arrive in 2022 but didn't share any details of the model’s design or technical specifications. A short preview clip (below) gives a teaser of its engine note.

Our spy photographers previously spotted a Vantage testing at the Nürburgring with a V12 - a powerplant that isn't offered in the current Vantage but appears in the related V12 Speedster.

The V12 Speedster’s 5.2-litre engine produces 690bhp and 555lb ft of torque, giving it a 0-62mph sprint of 3.5sec and a top speed of 186mph.

The spied Vantage mule featured an updated front grille, a large twin exhaust, additional air intakes and a bonnet bulge that was suspected to hide an engine larger than the V8 of the current Vantage.

Older Vantage Models to receive new vaned grilles

Aston Martin will now offer the newer grille from the updated Vantage to customers with pre-2021 models, available through the Gaydon-based firm’s heritage service and restoration facility, Aston Martin Works.

When launched in 2018, the current generation Vantage was met with rave reviews the world over, offering a significant increase in all-round performance over its predecessor, as well as a notable increase in comfort, making it far easier to use on a daily basis. However, the seemingly perfect rendition of an Aston Martin sports car received quite a lot of flack due to just one contentious point; the ‘Hunter Grille’.

Three years on, the option has been made available to customers to specify the new ‘vane’ grille, something more akin to traditional Aston Martin models, as opposed to the edgy and aggressive new ‘Hunter Grille’.

Luckily, local dealers will be able to carry out the conversion in-house, the parts just having to be ordered and then shipped over to your local Aston Martin retailer – namely Aston Martin Johannesburg or Aston Martin Cape Town. No indicative pricing has been given due to the fact that pricing can vary hugely depending on the exterior colour of the car. Labour and paint costs are also a consideration, generally varying depending on global location.

Aston Martin Vantage and DBX return as official F1 safety cars

Aston Martin to supply cars at 12 Formula 1 races, starting with the Melbourne Grand Prix from 7 to 10 April

Aston Martin will supply safety cars for Formula 1 for a second consecutive season and has revealed two designs inspired by the firm's classic racing green.

The Aston Martin Vantage will return as an official safety car for the competition, while the Aston Martin DBX will once again act as the official medical car.

Aston Martin will supply cars for a total of 12 Formula 1 races, starting with Albert Park in Melbourne from 7 to 10 April. The two safety cars share their exterior colour with the firm’s recently revealed Formula 1 racer, the AMR22.

The Vantage will be driven by FIA-appointed Bernd Mayländer, who has driven the F1 safety car for over 20 years. Aston Martin says the car “has been adapted for the ultimate speed and handling to perform its important role in F1.”

It has been adapted to feature an FIA safety car livery as well as an LED rear number plate, body side mounted radio antennas, and a roof-mounted LED light-bar. Inside, the Vantage is equipped with an FIA marshalling system and a live television system.

Aston Martin has taken the covers off another high-powered machine with the introduction of the very last V12 Vantage.

This is the most powerful Vantage ever fitted with a combustion engine and thanks to the tweaked 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12, the car’s power-to-weight ratio is improved by more than 20 percent compared to the V8 model.

It is limited to 333 units worldwide and if you’d like one, you’ll need to start scouring the classifieds because they all sold within a few weeks of their confirmation in December 2021 with, according to Aston Martin, a healthy list of hopefuls waiting for some to drop out.

The V12 pushes out 690 hp (515 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 753 Nm (555 lb-ft) of torque from 1,800 rpm. This translates to a 0 to 100 km/h sprint of 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h). An eight-speed ZF automatic transmission is the only gearbox on offer, though Aston claims it’s been recalibrated to be more sporty.
