Hennessey, the Texas-based hypercar manufacturer and high-performance vehicle creator, has supercharged the widely sought-after Corvette C8 Stingray hard top convertible (HTC), America's premier mid-engine sports car. The new Hennessey Supercharged 'H700' Corvette C8 Stingray, fitted with a muscular belt-driven blower, vaults the standard mid-engine Stingray HTC to exotic levels of power and torque to rival the celebrated Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06.
The eighth generation C8 convertible is shipped with a mid-mounted LT2 6.2-liter V8 engine. The naturally aspirated engine delivers 490 bhp and 465 lb-ft of torque in stock configuration. To unleash the untapped potential of the American small-block, Hennessey's Texas-based team installs a high-performance supercharger engineered to fit in the HTC's compact engine compartment, an air induction system with an air-to-water intercooler, and an enhanced cat-back exhaust system.
Completed with recalibrated high-performance engine software, the 'H700' boasts an explosive 708 bhp and 638 lb-ft torque - a 44 percent increase in horsepower and 37 percent more torque over the factory rating. In terms of engine output, Hennessey's supercharged 'H700' Corvette C8 Stingray bests Chevrolet's flagship C8 Z06, which delivers a factory rated 670 bhp and 460 lb-ft from its naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 flat-plane crank V8.
Hennessey has given the C8 Corvette 708bhp and an active exhaust
Mid-engined ‘Vette gets a supercharger, big wheels and a three-year warranty
Hennessey has revealed its disaffection with the Chevrolet Corvette’s V8. Well, implicitly at least, because it has heaped on a load more power onto the ‘Vette’s flanks. Power that's now 44 per cent more... powerful.
And lo, behold the new Hennessey Supercharged H700 C8 Corvette Stringray HTC; a very long name for a car with a short temper. Not least because this s’charged C8 now kicks out 708 horsies.
It’s been delivered via a “muscular” belt-driven supercharger to the 6.2-litre nat-asp V8, along with an air induction system, an air-to-water intecooler and a new cat-back exhaust. All old school tuning, but mighty effective.
Because alongside that massive jump in power – up from 490bhp – it also gets 638lb ft of torque. Indeed it trumps even the mighty Z06 in terms of outright punch. Spend a little more and you get an active valve exhaust system, the C8 heritage livery, and 19in alloys.
The Corvette E-Ray Is Way More Powerful Than Advertised
Someone already strapped the hybrid sportscar to a dyno and found out how much power it actually makes.
Customers are starting to take deliveries of the all-new Corvette E-Ray. As is tradition with all-new performance cars, someone has already strapped it to a dyno to see how much power it actually has. That someone is Paragon Performance with its all-wheel-drive dyno. Well, it turns out the E-Ray makes a hell of a lot more power (especially torque) than Chevrolet says it does.
Chevy says a stock Corvette E-Ray makes 655 horsepower and 592 lb-ft of torque from its mid-mounted 6.2-liter naturally aspirated LT2 V8 and front axle-mounted electric motor. Those are both healthy numbers, but Paragon Performance found out they may have been a bit of an understatement. Their C8 E-Ray apparently made 573 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. Now, that 573 number is right in line with what Chevy says if you consider a 15-ish percent drivetrain loss, but goddamn that torque number.
