2020 Hyundai Creta (2nd Generation)

Hyundai Creta Facelift (2022) Specs & Price

The Hyundai Creta Facelift has touched down in South Africa. Here’s a look at what’s new and what you get for your money.

The Hyundai Creta is the Korean brand’s SUV that’s positioned between the entry-level Hyundai Venue and the bigger Hyundai Tucson. A 7-seater Grand Creta is also available.

What’s Changed?

The big news is that this Hyundai Creta facelift is now sourced from Indonesia, unlike the outgoing model which came from India.

Visually, there’s a big change at the front, with the Hyundai Creta receiving a bold new grille that’s similar to that of the bigger Hyundai Tucson. It’s radically different and we think it makes quite the statement.

How much does the Hyundai Creta Facelift cost in South Africa?

Hyundai Creta (2022) Launch Review

Pricing and after-sales

By dropping the more expensive derivatives from the lineup (the turbopetrol and -diesel), Hyundai is focusing its efforts on the area of the segment where most of the sales occur. With the explosion of the R250k-R400k small SUV segment in the last 18 months, Hyundai wants to offer buyers as many options as it can below the R500k mark…

Every Creta is sold with a 7-year/200 000 km warranty and a 4-year/60 000 km service plan.

Summary

The Indonesia-sourced Creta appears to be of a similar quality (inside and out) to the current Indian-made model. It also allows Hyundai to bring in more stock, which it believes it can sell quite easily, given the pent-up demand for its Creta.

Its price has crept up ever so slightly (and a new rival has arrived in the shape of the Toyota Corolla Cross), but the Creta’s still very competitive in its segment and offers all the features that buyers expect in terms of safety and in-car tech.

Frugal new Hyundai Grand Creta is practical, but not..

The Hyundai Grand Creta truly does occupy a unique space, however, I can’t help but think it’s a little too niche. If you wanted a Hyundai SUV, you’d do better picking up a Tucson for around the same money. And if you really want this Hyundai because of the third row of seats? Don’t. They’re not worth it.

DRIVEN: New Hyundai Creta hits the right chord

The design updates to the Hyundai Creta have made a significant change to the car and coupled with a solid, comfortable ride it will continue to be a good seller for the brand.

It comes with a seven-year/200 000km warranty, a four-year/60 000km service plan and seven year or 150 000km roadside assistance.

Very interesting, I was actually considering the Grand Creta because of the 3rd row but its evidently useless. There aren't many 7 seater SUV's at this price point so I'm curios to know what the author is referring to when he says:
"And if what you were looking for was a car with seven seats, there are far better options that’ll cost up to R200k less."

Probably Haval or Tigo.

Hyundai's new compact Creta SUV gets a mega refresh and it's better than before

• Hyundai has refreshed its second-generation compact Creta SUV.

.• Not only does it look better than before, its driving dynamics feel improved too.

• The range has been restructured, and it's even more affordable than the 2020 model line-up.

The Creta goes up against a vast line-up of rivals in an oversaturated segment, but its most direct competitors in terms of power figures are the Volkswagen T-Cross and the Toyota C-HR. Both are these are good cars by comparison, but you get way more bang for your buck in the Creta, and it sets you apart from the thousands of other models on the road.

Pricing

Creta 1.5 Premium MT - R409 900
Creta 1.5 Premium IVT - R429 900
Creta 1.5 Executive IVT - R469 900

All Cretas are sold with a 7-year or 200 000km manufacturer's warranty; a 4-year or 60 000km service plan; and roadside assistance for 7 years or 150 000km.

REVIEW: 2022 Hyundai Creta looks sharper but feels like a comfy pair of slippers

VERDICT

Spacious, easy to drive and big enough for the family, the Hyundai Creta is like a comfortable pair of slippers. And following what appears to be a somewhat successful facelift, this is a pair of slippers that you’ll happily wear in public.

OPINION | Stylish, comfy, and frugal: Hyundai's new Creta SUV ticks all the right boxes. We drive it

In conclusion

People might ask about dash times and top ends, but this is not a performance beast after all. This is about arriving in style and comfort with looks to match. As I said at the beginning of this missive: It handled both the twisties and the urban sprawl with aplomb. It hardly put a foot wrong.

Pricing for the entry model starts from R409 900 for the 1.5-litre Premium manual model, and R429 900 for the IVT Premium and the range-topping Executive IVT at R469 900 (almost R40 000 cheaper than the outgoing flagship launched in 2020 at R510 500)

Albert's rev counter: a very solid, likeable, 8 out of 10.
