New Hyundai i10 previewed ahead of Frankfurt show debut

Replacement for strong-selling city car is teased in design image; will arrive in showrooms before end of year

Hyundai's i10 city car is moving into its third generation for 2020, and the first official image of the new car has been released.

Although not confirmed to be an image of the firm's city car, Autocar understands this is the i10 - but we don't yet know if it will debut in Frankfurt in concept form or full production spec.

While only the car's 'floating' C-pillar design is shown in what looks to be a slightly exaggerated digital rendering, we can see the new Volkswagen Up rival's styling will take a step forward from today's six-year-old model.

A prototype spotted a while ago with less disguise on European roads, thought to be the i10, is now in fact believed to be the larger i20. Our reference point for the i10 therefore goes back to images of a heavily disguised mule undergoing winter testing.

Next-gen Hyundai i10: first official sketch previews bold makeover

Hyundai has released a sketch previewing the next-generation i10 city car, set to be on display at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Don’t be surprised if we see it before then, though, with an online reveal likely before the end of August.

The South Korean firm promises the new, third-generation i10 (badged in countries such as South Africa and India as the Grand i10) will boast “a new-look dynamic design, which shows a contrast between its soft surfaces and sharp lines”.

“Proportions for the all-new model have been redefined in width, height and wheel size, resulting in an energetic and agile look,” the company adds.

As you can see in the accompanying sketch, the upcoming version of the A-segment hatchback will feature a wide grille fitted with distinctive circular daytime running lights. Hyundai says the new i10 will feature an “X-shaped C-pillar, visible from far away”, complete with a pillar-mounted logo.

New Hyundai i10: sketch shows design revamp

Third generation of Korean firm's city car, set to be revealed at Frankfurt show, will get design makeover and tech upgrade

Hyundai has revealed a preview sketch showing the design of its third-generation i10 city car ahead of it’s reveal at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The sketch shows a new design direction for the Volkswagen Up rival, with a new wider front grille reflecting the firm’s current styling. As with the current i10, the car’s daytime running lights are located within the grille. It also hints at what Hyundai calls an ‘X-shaped C-pillar’, which was first teased in a single preview image released by Hyundai last month.

Hyundai says the model will be designed, developed and built in Europe. While it hasn’t revealed any technical details, Hyundai does say the car will feature a “range of new connected car and safety features”, including smartphone connectivity, a reversing camera and a range of driver assistance systems.

Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS unveiled - Team-BHP



Hyundai has taken the wraps off the third generation Grand i10. It is called the i10 NIOS and bookings are now open. Customers can book the car by paying a token amount of Rs. 11,000.

The Grand i10 NIOS features a redesigned cascade grille at the front with V-shaped daytime running lights. The headlamps have been re-profiled and feature projectors. It has triangular fog lamp pods that house circular fog lamps.

The car has blacked-out B-pillars, chrome door handles and roof rails. It rides on dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Grand i10 NIOS comes with a dual-tone interior and a redesigned dashboard with a silver insert. It features a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and what appears to be a twin-pod instrument cluster with a large MID.

The centre console houses a touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control.

Dramatic Redesign for Hyundai i10

Conservative appearance a thing of the past for Hyundai's city car.

Hyundai has released a teaser of its next-generation i10 and the Korean city car is certainly going to be a lot bolder than is currently the case.

The third-generation i10 is due to be revealed at this year’s Frankfurt auto show in Germany, scheduled for the second week fo September.

From the sketch that Hyundai has released, detailing its new i10, the evidence is clear that the new car will feature a significantly sharper design.

Proportions are larger too, with the i10 growing in both width and height. It also rolls larger wheels, which help to fill out the car’s side profile.

The front view is particularly dynamic, with triangular aero ducts in the bumper and a larger, wider, grille. Hyundai has also added daytime LEDs.

Hyundai shows off funky new i10 in official sketch

Hyundai has released the first official teaser sketch of its new-generation i10 budget hatch ahead of its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and it promises a somewhat spunkier design than the current model.

Do keep in mind though, that what we see here is the European-spec i10. South Africa gets a slightly longer ‘Grand i10’ from India, and the new version of that is set to be revealed on August 20. It’s unclear just how closely the Euro i10 and Indian Grand i10 will be related, but in their current forms the cars share most of their design features, barring for a different rear door and C-pillar design in the latter’s case, and it could very well be a similar scenario for the new models.

Back to the Euro version previewed here, Hyundai is promising an “energetic and agile” look that will stand out within its segment, thanks to a wider stance, bigger wheels and a distinctive ‘X-shaped’ C-pillar that even gets its own logo.

2020 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Variants & Engine Details Out - NDTV.

Hyundai Motor India pulled the wraps off the new generation Hyundai Grand i10 Nios earlier today and the hatchback is all set to hit the market later this month on August 20, 2019.

India has been the lead market to develop the third generation Grand i10 (i10 globally) and will also be the first market to get the model ahead of its launch in Europe later this year.

New Hyundai Grand i10 Nios revealed for India (and South Africa?)

Hyundai has taken the wraps off its new Grand i10 Nios in India just a day after the Korean firm released a sketch of the upcoming European-spec i10.

We’ve asked Hyundai Automotive South Africa for clarification on which version is destined for local shores (and will update this article once we hear back), but it seems very likely this Indian-built model will be offered in SA.

So, let’s take a closer look at the newcomer. The automaker’s Indian arm released an image of the front of the new hatchback, a second photograph providing a look at the cabin as well as a video (embedded below) showing a little more detail.

Hyundai has just dropped the information on its new, third-generation i10, which will be called Grand i10 NIOS. The Grand i10 NIOS will co-exist with the current Grand i10 in the Indian market and will compete with the likes of the Suzuki Swift and the Ford Figo.

 
Hyundai reveals new-generation Grand i10 Neos

Hyundai has released the first pictures (and video) of the Indian-market version of the new-generation Grand i10 hatchback - and this is the version that will inevitably come to South Africa.

You might have thought the car’s name was already a touch cumbersome (why not just call it the i15?) but Hyundai has just made it even more of a mouthful by naming it the Grand i10 Nios. This is because the current Grand i10 will soldier on alongside the newer model, which will then, by implication, move upmarket.

Hyundai hasn’t released details on the vehicle's size and specifications, but the new Grand i10 does appear bigger and more sophisticated than its predecessor, while the cabin follows the latest Hyundai design trends and incorporates a large touchscreen infotainment system.

The Grand i10 Nios will reportedly be offered with 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines in India, the former likely being a carryover from the current range. Buyers will have a choice between five-speed manual and AMT automated transmissions.

Earlier this month, Hyundai unveiled the Grand i10 NIOS. Now, more images of the car have surfaced online. The new images reveal the car's rear design.



The Grand i10 NIOS gets wraparound tail lamps and a bumper with integrated reflectors. The hatch has a large Hyundai logo in the centre with 'NIOS' lettering under it. It has a chrome strip running along the lower edge, while the variant badge is positioned on the right-hand side. The number plate mounting points are on the bumper.

The images indicate that the Asta variant is likely to get a rear wiper, shark fin antenna and roof rails.



At the front, the Grand i10 NIOS gets large sweptback headlamps with projectors and a cascade grille with V-shaped LED daytime running lights.





It gets redesigned dual-tone interiors with a 3-spoke, multi-function steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment head-unit.

The Grand i10 NIOS is expected to be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines that could be offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual transmissions (AMT).

Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS launched (in India) at Rs. 4.99 lakh - Team-BHP

Hyundai has launched the second-generation Grand i10 called the Grand i10 NIOS in India. The car is priced from Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).


The Grand i10 NIOS measures 3,805 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It features a cascade grille with V-shaped LED daytime running lights, large sweptback projector headlamps and circular fog lamps.

It gets ORVMs with integrated turn-indicators, chrome door handles and dual-tone alloy wheels.

At the rear, the car features wraparound tail lamps and a body coloured bumper with integrated reflectors. It has a chrome strip on the lower edge of the tail gate and 'NIOS' lettering in the centre.



The Grand i10 NIOS comes with dual-tone interiors. The dashboard has textured silver inserts and circular air-conditioning vents on either side. The centre console houses an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It has a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and an instrument cluster with a 5.3-inch MID.

Other features include automatic climate control, wireless charging, rear power outlet, cooled glove box, engine start/stop button, rear AC vents, rear parking camera and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs.



The Grand i10 NIOS is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder diesel unit that puts out 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 1,750-2,250 rpm. Both engines are available with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.

Safety features offered in the new Grand i10 NIOS include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder and rear parking sensors.
