New Range Rover here soon – full South African range and pricing announced
Aiming to be one of the smartest and most luxurious SUVs around, the all-new Range Rover is set to go on sale in South Africa around the middle of 2022.
And when it comes to options and range derivatives, buyers will be spoilt for choice in a big (and expensive) way.
Back in February, the company announced that the starting price for the new range would be in the region of R2.86 million, and now JLR SA has announced the full-line-up and pricing.
As we said before, take a deep breath, as the 19-model range goes all the way up to the R4.34m mark.

Manhart Vogue RV 650 is a new Range Rover with 480 kW
It hasn’t taken long for German tuning house Manhart Performance to wave their ‘schnell’ stick at the all-new Range Rover – this is the RV 650.
Land Rover’s monolithic new flagship is most certainly imposing as is, however that sort of thing has never stopped Manhart Performance. Their latest creation is the RV 650 which is Manhart’s take on none other than the latest iteration of an iconic nameplate, the Range Rover Vogue. Their characteristic black exterior look with golden accents in combination with Manhart’s Forged Line wheels in each corner finished in gold certainly look the part.
For the RV 650, a newly upholstered cabin with leather and Alcantara in black and gold ties the interior to the exterior, reminding customers of the fact that this is no ordinary Range Rover. Certain elements of the clean and modern interior have been updated with a smattering of gold accents here and there bringing the interior of the SUV to life.
In terms of power and performance, the all-new Range Rover makes use of BMW engines, this one in particular the same 4,4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 a la the M50i badged BMW models, a motor to which Manhart are no strangers. In this application, power has been raised to a not insignificant 480 kW which will definitely get this ‘Rangey up on its feet. An optional upgrade of the vehicle’s chassis and chassis systems is available to improve stability and on request, Manhart will also offer a custom exhaust system. As with all Manhart products, customisation is the name of the game and RV650 is no different, a myriad options are available for personalisation and customisation over and above what they have detailed for this Range Rover.

This RR, in particular, makes use of the BMW-sourced 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 which Manhart are very familiar with.

WHAT'S THE VERDICT?
“There are other expensive SUVs but there’s only one Range Rover. And it’s better than ever”
This is a hugely confident car and a mighty achievement. Cleverly conceived, intelligently engineered and breathtakingly well designed, more than ever the Range Rover can legitimately claim to be the definitive luxury car. More than just a car, in fact; this is one of the definitive luxury experiences of any kind.
It’s not as dynamic as the Bentley Bentayga or Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, never mind the more extrovert Lamborghini Urus. But then it isn’t trying to be. It sits in its own world, not expending any more energy trying to define itself than is strictly necessary.
We await the plug-in hybrid versions with interest, but for now make room in the dream garage alongside the Porsche 911. The more things change, the more they stay the same. In a topsy-turvy 2022, we’ll happily run with that.

Can somebody check whether BMW has been copying Maybach’s homework? It’s just, not only does the new 7 Series (and its all-electric i7 sibling) get a humongous shiny grille, but we now know that you can also have one with some rather striking two-tone paint options.

If you don’t think the monster limo stands out enough on its own, why not have the classy blue and beige scheme?
