2022 Audi RS3 (8Y)

ABT Audi RS 3 Pushes 453 HP (338 kW) and Hits 300 KM/H

This extra power results in 100 km/h (62 mph) coming up in just 3.6 seconds.

It was only a matter of time until we saw the new Audi RS 3 range being tinkered with by aftermarket companies and one of the best in the business can turn your pocket rocket into a missile.

With nothing more than a software upgrade, the ABT RS 3 becomes more powerful than the RS 4 with 453 hp (338 kW).

This extra power results in 100 km/h (62 mph) coming up in just 3.6 seconds from standstill and flat out you will be doing 300 km/h (186 mph).

The Abt Engine Control module has been tested, says Abt, “on the road and on the test bench in countless hours of work”. It’s warrantied, too, Hans-Jurgen Abt adding that this kit “ensures driving pleasure without remorse.”

ABT will give your Audi RS3 over 450bhp

Bonkers quick hyper-hatch not powerful enough for you? ABT is here to help

There aren’t many people in the world who would look at the latest 394bhp Audi RS3 and think it was lacking in the power stakes.

The folks at ABT Sportsline clearly felt that was precisely the case, though, because they have now unveiled an ‘ABT Power S’ upgrade that brings the 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder’s figures up to 454bhp and 398lb ft of torque.

ABT says that the software upgrade brings the 0-62mph time down from 3.8 seconds to 3.6, but when we tested a standard RS3 it managed to equal that latter time despite being on winter tyres. Imagine how quick the ABT will be in the real-world, then.

BMW M240I COUPE VS AUDI RS3 SALOON: 4X4 MINI SUPER-SALOON BATTLE

BMW's new small coupe has huge punch. Enough to take down Audi's driftable 400 horsepower RS3?

The M240i is a great little package, but bereft of its own character – it feels like a 4 Series, which feels like an 8 Series, which isn’t different enough from the old 6 Series. It’s a bit confusing. But it’s also professional, polished and German in all the very best ways. A bit of a bargain too, for the performance and road manners on offer.

I’d have the RS3, because it’s been one of the biggest surprises of the past 12 months. But if you’re enjoying life in your M240i and see the Audi hove into your new M-spec mirrors, don’t let it intimidate you. It’ll probably run out of fuel first.

New Audi RS3 Fights Off BMW M240i xDrive and Mercedes-AMG A45 S in Drag Race

The hottest hot hatch of the lot is without a doubt the new Audi RS3 and until the new BMW M2 arrives, the closest competition it has is the new M240i xDrive version and of course the mega foe, the Mercedes-AMG A45 S.

Motorsport Magazine has rounded these three machines together to compare their drag racing potency.

Sure we know the result before pushing play but it is always interesting (and entertaining) to see just how radically fast these little machines are becoming.

The 2022 Audi RS 3 Is a Tiny Track Vixen That Wants to Have Fun

New gizmos make the 5-cylinder RS 3 more eager to oversteer, with joyous results.

Thoughts

I stand by the notion that great things come in small packages. The RS 3, complete with its 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine, makes 401 horsepower, which is more than you’ll ever need on the road or track. The power is there, though, just in case you want a more dynamic driving experience, or for the track days we all keep telling ourselves we’ll sign up for this summer.

If you’re stuck between wanting something track-worthy and powerful, but needing a daily-driver-ready sedan, the RS 3 might just be your answer. With a $58,900 starting MSRP, it’s a somewhat attainable joyride — and a way to keep the internal-combustion sport sedan alive just a little bit longer.

Manhart Crank Audi RS3 To 500 Horses To Create Hotter Hot Hatch

Judging by the speed of the product reveals, Manhart Performance does not do too much sleeping as we have another package this time focusing on the hot hatch from the four rings brand.

The tuner has commenced work on the Audi RS3 range and will be available for both the Sportback and Sedan body styles.

Manhart will tweak the 2.5-litre five-cylinder to deliver around 500 horses making it 100 horses more potent than stock. The amped-up engine is also going to breathe better through a stainless steel exhaust system featuring valve control to alter the soundtrack on the fly.
