There has been a single leitmotif that has been thrilling Prancing Horse enthusiasts since 1947: the naturally-aspirated, mid-front-mounted V12, the very first Ferrari engine to roar its way through the factory gates in Maranello. Unveiled to the public and media against the spectacular backdrop of Miami Beach in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Ferrari's arrival on the American market, the Ferrari 12Cilindri is the natural evolution of the company's uncompromising powertrain philosophy, which over the decades has continued to develop without ever straying from its original DNA and the marque's core values.
The Ferrari 12Cilindri is inspired by the legendary Grand Tourers of the 1950s and '60s, embodying the front-mounted Ferrari V12 two-seater mission with its effortless combination of elegance, versatility, and performance. The car represents the latest evolution in this bloodline and continues that unique legacy, elevating it towards new standards in performance, comfort, and design. The Ferrari 12Cilindri's engine is the latest development of the iconic V12 that laid the foundations for the Maranello legend, in this version unleashing 830 cv and with maximum revs rising to a heady 9500 rpm. The impressive power curve ensures 80% of total torque is already available at just 2500 rpm, resulting in instantaneous pick-up for maximum accelerator response and a feeling of never-ending power all the way to the red line.

This Is, Allegedly, A New Ferrari
Styling aside, who's going to turn their nose up at an 818-horsepower V12?
Ferrari has issued a press release that claims the car you see here is the new V12 Ferrari that will replace the 812. And, as you can see, there are multiple Ferrari badges on the car, which typically indicates you’re looking at a Ferrari. Are we, though? Remove the badges, and would Ferrari really have been your first guess here? Not “some new car added to Grand Theft Auto in the latest update”?
To be clear, we’re not saying it looks horrible. We were just surprised to see Ferrari’s design team change up the styling like this. The front end does give off some Daytona vibes, so it’s not completely unprecedented. That said, calling it the 12Cilindri does feel a little lazy. Did they really just call the new V12 the Twelve Cylinder? Yes, they really did.
Even if you’re not on board with the name and the new styling, though, this is Ferrari we’re talking about. If you ever get the chance to drive one, we suspect you’ll have a blast. After all, there’s a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 under the hood that makes 818 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. You could be driving the ugliest, most uncomfortable car ever built, and a naturally aspirated V12 that revs to 9,500 rpm is still going to make for a great time.
With that kind of power comes some serious performance, too. According to Ferrari, the 12Cilindri will can hit 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds. Getting up to 124 mph takes only 7.9 seconds, and it has a top speed of 211 mph.

Ferrari engineering boss: Turbocharged V12 "is not in my mind"

Ferrari has invested heavily in making its V12 compliant with new emissions regulations without the need for turbocharging – and the brand is committed to keeping its largest engine breathing freely well into the future.
The Ferrari 12Cilindri has been revealed as the firm's new GT flagship, using an evolved version of the 6.5-litre V12 that featured in its 812 Superfast predecessor. Bosses say making the engine compliant with incoming Euro6e emissions legislation was a significant – and costly – part of the new car's development process, and as a result it does not need to force induction to cut emissions.
"It is possible to keep selling the car all over the world for the time being and then we will see what happens in the future," said chief commercial officer Enrico Galliera.
“The work that has been done on this engine to remain performant and compliant with the regulation is absolutely stunning, which is probably one of the reasons why there are not many manufacturers that keep investing in the V12 engine.”
And when asked by Autocar whether a turbocharged V12 would be better than not having a V12 at all, if the firm was ultimately forced to make that decision, product development boss Gianmaria Fulgenzi was candid.
“I’ll try to be polite: V12 turbocharging is not in my mind,” he said.
