2026 Commonwealth Games Glasgow

Another gold for Pieter Coetze in the 100m backstroke and yet another Games record!! Almost a world record. This is like his 100th Games record.

And bronze for Ruard van Renen.
 
19 medals now for SA and they're all from swimming :)

(Compared to Aus with their 68 medals for swimming lol)

Would have thought more from Kenya, maybe Northern Ireland too, and we're doing better than New Zealand. Why is Malaysia doing so well?

Masala Makatu won the very first track and field medal (silver) in the 100m T12 (visualy impaired).

22 swimming medals.

1 for track and field so far.
 
Now 25 medals.

Gold for Sinosipho Dambile in the 200m.

And Bronze for Donne Breytenbach in women's Judo.
 
Medal 26: Bronze for Zakithi Nene in the 400m.

Silver for Timothy Meuwsen in judo.

Silver for Kyle Rademeyer in pole vault.
 
So with the track and field done and dusted, looks like SA will finish these Commonwealth Games with a total of 28 medals. Although there are still South Africans in track cycling finals today (mens Kilo TT at 12pm and the women's Elimination Race 4pm). Their chances are tiny though.

Saw that one (a Black dude), he's quite good but I think typical trickery in the sport overcame him. Quite a few went down that way.

Most seem to be of the Afrikaaner culture. Nice to see a few Black peeps, especially in athletics.

28 medals is apparently a record by 1, hear we got 27 in 2024. Looking forward to seeing what may come of this in the next Olympics.

It's a surprisingly interesting game, got to watch a lot of it as a youngster as my dad was chairman of one of the clubs.

Nope. SA won 40 medals including 13 gold in 2014. 30 medals including 12 gold in 2010. 38 medals including 12 gold in 2006. 31 in 1958, 35 in 1954.

2026 is the next best after all of those lol.

Well in the Olympics our swimmers are competing against all countries like the US and the rest of Europe. So fewer medals for us there.
