20Mbps and 40Mbps capped and uncapped VDSL prices compared

Now compare these prices to lets say CellCs Giga 20.
I know, its not Apples with Apples, but ADSL and VDSL costs are ridiculous!
And Hellkom wonders why they are loosing customers? LMAO.
 
these prices are still way too expensive for the average joe. i don't why we have to fit the bill for telkom's infrastructure to get those speeds. we already paying to much for adsl rental atm. scrap it and you will get more customers.
 
These prices are a joke.

This seems more like Telkom's attempt to be able to say "Look how world-class we are! 40mbps broadband!" rather than delivering a consumer product.
 
Table should mention that Vox's data rolls over. That's a huge selling point.
 
I still want to know why the hell do we have to be forced to pay line rental as well as VDSL access?

This should be taken up with the consumer act...

these prices arent ment for your average joe. it is ment for Bussiness' on most part. i agree it is expensive but most companies in a metro area would love to take this over paying 10k a month for fibre... if you really wanted it you would pay for it so yeah...

agreed. most ive ever seen over 3g is 8mbps. and thats because i was standing right next to the Vodacom tower. LTE i cant even see keeping up with 40mbps.
 
the adsl rental monet that telkom has already screwed us over with, can be used fo their upgrades. its like building a white elephant. the masses will not benefit as most are below the bread line anyway.

The POTS line rental is for upkeep of the copper. If a tree falls on your line Telkom fixes it for free.
The DSL charge is for backhaul to the exchange.
The Data is to get the torrent from the international site to your PC.

I think the DSL charge should cover the POTS line rental to be honest. The prices are too damn high.
 
Telkom needs to revised it's pricing structure for line/voice and adsl.

1/2 Mbps R100
4/10 Mbps R150
20 Mbps R200
40 Mbps R300

cut the voice part to R100 (because they'll never remove it)
 
Still way to expensive for the average Joe and they are only providing a service which is the norm in most European cities and for a fraction of the price that we are paying. Still I can't wait until it is all over JHB, 2020 is just around the corner.

Hey, seeing as we are making up prices, ignoring infrastructure costs, improvements, support, future investments and debt repayments, why not this pricing instead:

1/2 Mbps R10
4/10 Mbps R15
20 Mbps R20
40 Mbps R30

cut the voice part to R10 (because they'll never remove it)
 
Prices are meh. Coverage is meh. I'm on 4Mbps uncapped, and I don't see full speed that often, so backhaul is also meh. I guess this product has it's place, but honestly, download speeds are limited by their backhaul and I'm getting 3Mbps upload on 3g, so if you want many gigs, look at a cheaper line and if upload is the issue, look at 3G

POTS covers the copper, and is fairly priced.
DSL covers the DSL port at the exchange, and is exorbitantly priced.
IPConnect (paid by the ISP) covers the backhaul, and despite what the ISPs will tell you, is fairly priced.
Data covers all the ISPs costs including local and international links, and IPConnect, and is fairly priced.
