21 hour work week

I would honestly put in more effort if the days were shorter. I find myself wasting about an hour a day on browsing.
The biggest problem is commuting to the office. If people in IT were allowed to work from home I think results would be better. I personally hate the fact of having to go to an office because of the following:
* 30 Minutes - eat, bath and get dressed
* 60 Minutes - drive to work
* 8 hours - working
* 60 minutes - lunch break
* 60 minutes drive home.

That's 11h 30m I spend every day dedicated to task revolving around me going to work.

Working from home:
* 1 minute - get up go to computer
* 3-4 hours - do work quickly and efficiently so I can use my time to do other stuff I want to do

There we go: cut down 11h 30m a day to 4h 1m

The idea is that you would share your workload with another employee who also has a 21 hour week so between you both, 42 hours of work gets done a week. This is how it would help ease unemployment - double the number of jobs!

For 50% of the pay. I don't think this is feasable as many people are struggling already.

Are you being serious? It took 1 1/2 years to fill my post and that of my colleague in my present department. Unemployment in skilled sectors wouldn't be improved that much by adding more job vacancies.

France did exactly that in the late 80s to alleviate unemployment. They instituted a maximum 30-hour week IIRC.

There is more work, more spending in the economy, which leads to more growth, everyone wins

21 hours is a bit far-fetched IMHO.
