A ‘normal’ working week of 21 hours could help to address a range of urgent, interlinked problems: overwork, unemployment, over-consumption, high carbon emissions, low well-being, entrenched inequalities, and the lack of time to live sustainably, to care for each other, and simply to enjoy life.

Why haven't they implemented this yet? 40 hours a week is excessive. My boss is understanding enough to realise that I don't work more than 5 hours a day, very few people do. Staying at work for 8 hours usually ends up costing the company more since you just spend that time browsing the web and using electricity etc while being unproductive.

Honestly don't ever see it happening though.

It's not bad. The bad part depending where you live is the time taken to commute to work.

Here is what I would prefer, work from home, put in 9hrs 4 days a week and get three days off.

So you want to cut down the 25% of hours we work a week to 15%.

1. Companies can't afford that low throughput or the extra costs of hiring second shift staff.
2. You are lazy and your boss knows it :p
3. No, it will never happen.

I work between 60 and 70 hours a week. Sometimes it goes up to 100 hours when we really push for a release or deadline (that gets a bit much, I agree). But seriously, I think I would die of boredom if I only worked 5 hours a die. Stuff just wouldn't ever get done. You'd be stuck with the same ****ty project forever!

You guys just aren't efficient enough :p

Remember, work expands to fill the hours available for it to be done in.

stop posting on MYbb and enjoy turkey...theres women there

As soon as I'm done having breakfast on the terrace :p

lol. people who work 40 hour weeks but only put in 20 hours will FOR SURE only put in 10 hours if they work a 20 hour weeks ;)

That's 30 minutes out of your 21 hours you've just wasted looking at a view. Back to autocad!

:wtf: I'm on holiday. Man it's boiling out here. Just have to chill under this tree for a little longer and keep tapping of this tour (possessive form of bus) free wifi.

That's how it should be. 40 hours a week is slavery. The weekend is nothing.

bus's. Bus' is for irritating pedants.

I'd never be able to finish my workload in 21 hours. Fuggedaboutit.

The idea is that you would share your workload with another employee who also has a 21 hour week so between you both, 42 hours of work gets done a week. This is how it would help ease unemployment - double the number of jobs!
