22 high schoolers hospitalised after bee attack

Johannesburg - Twenty-two high school pupils and three adults were taken to hospital in Vereeniging, Gauteng, after a swarm of bees attacked them on Thursday morning.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing Harduth said a beehive was disturbed at the school while maintenance workers were apparently cutting grass.

"All patients are in a stable condition at this stage," she said.

"There are instances where you cannot foresee bee attacks. General advice to the public would be not to provoke bees or interfere with bee hives. Seek professional assistance."

Hmph someone did something major to piss them off, always have lots of bees in my garden, no problem with them. Now hornets and wasps on the other hand.....
 
I wonder if anyone told them to lie flat on the ground.

A swarm of bees once flew over a high school cricket game I was watching. The crowd could run away pretty easily but the players couldn't. My school's batsmen dropped flat and half the visiting team dropped too when they saw them doing that. Only the players who tried running away got stung.
 
I saw some danger tape around a few pot plants at Bedford Centre's outdoor parking lot warning people of bees. As if that would've helped if they started swarming. Bees can get agitated by even a large gust of wind.
 
1 or 2 bees. Cute.

A million bees. Demonic legion invasion from hell.

Go figure.
