22" powered with a 7900gt?

If you turn down resolution on a LCD from its native resolution then there is a fair amount of loss in quality. Depends on how fussy you are about that sort of thing, but i would check that out on an existing LCD and see if you notice what im talking about.
LCD is only supposed to run at native resolutions made for the panel.

I'm running a Samsung 226BW 22" and a GeForce 7900GT and it runs great :)

I can basically run every game at max details and @ 1680x1050

did i mention that the 22" is the best size out there price/performance :)
I love it!!

KILLADOOB... i want a budget GFX card, how is the 8600GS?

nrg i dunno man

rather go for the 8800gts if you can because the 8600gs looks like a piece of crap

specially if you going from a 7900 :)

nrg wait a little bit.The 88gt is being released at the end of the month by nvidia and its looks to be a very good little card. There are quite a few cards from ati also coming out 12 nov that should be better priced and perform very well.So give it a little more time id say.

Killa they cant afford to. The mere fact that nvidia have moved up their release date of the 8800gt to 29oct says something. I think they are a bit worried about ati's new cards and ati shouldn't miss the boat this time around. But lets wait and see.

i dont nvidia are worried to be honest

they are just making sure they get in before ati, ati has lost to nvidia and only has ati fanboi's still buying their cards

Nvidia recently moved their dates forward to before ATI's (for the R670) so there will apparently be (limited) stock on the 29th October. Should get here in a few weeks.

Both cards look good, might want to wait for a winner to come up between the 8800GT and the 2950Pro, but both will be a good buy.

Nvidia 8800gt based on 65nm chip and i think ati r670's based on 55nm chip(not completely sure about this though). The 8800gt looks like a potentially monster little card but the ati cards which should launch mid nov(apparently) might just kick some a**.

To be honest killa the hd2900xt isn't a bad card at the price/performance point. It's actually quite lekker. Ati just doesn't have a high end card like nvidia does.

ATI's get too hot, make too much noise and even tho it's initially faster than nvidia, the performance of the ATI slows down when u turn up anti-aliasing and anistrophic filtering. this is where nvidia surpasses ATI and really performs much better in terms of quality and speed than ATI. so go for the nvidia. u can't go wrong. plus they have better drivers too :)

The new cards are supposed to be cooler and draw less power but i also have some gripes with the heat, noise and power draw from these cards. But mecurial for a R3500 card(hd2900xt) that matches the 8800gts 640 performance and outperforms the gtx in a few cases, its definately not a bad buy.But AA also works on my nerves when it comes to ati.

Dude, the 55nm RV570 is going to clock like a beast..
The Gladiator will be higher clocked with GDDR4 I think..
But both cards will be awesome for the mid-budget card market! :)

zenbaas whats the point of having an ati card that struggles when u put the AA and AF up

i run all my games with 16 AA and 16 AF with max settings at good fps

the same cannot be said about ati

no point spending 3.5k is you cannot run alot of AA and AF

i paid 3k for my card and i run the highest AA and AF settings with no problems

im pretty sure my gts 320 kicks the ATI card when AA and AF are set to max

exactly. that ati struggles cos i mean lets face it, we all wanna turn up AA and AF to get the best performance and quality for our games. nvidia is clearly the answer. initially i was gonna buy the ati but i was advised otherwise and i don't regret the decision.

merc dude i saw some benchies where the ati beat the gts 640 and gtx with no AA

then i saw 8 x aa and 8 x af

nvidia cards all of the 8800's where over 90fps, the ati was under 40

the whole point for spending 3-6k on a vga card is play with full AA and AF

whats the point of having an ati card that can beat a gtx with no AA and no AF, but once you turn that up it goes it shyte and cannot even compete with a gts 320 meg

ATI FTL
