Just out of interest, what panels do your 2253's have? (for those who don't know how to check, turn your brightness and contrast down to 0 and hold the source button for 5 seconds). The version should be something like m-xx22xxCLA-1001.0. Those last three letters (in my case "CLA") tells you what panel you have. If i'm not mistaken, it means i have an AU Optetronics panel. I'm interested because we're one of the only countries with the gw version, which i find very strange. Thanks...and sorry for the lack of spacing, using my phone :)

Oh ok thanks :) Doesn't really matter(pun intended :P) anyway, this screens still insanely awesome! Still interested in whether all our panels are the same though, apparently overseas they all have cmo panels. Lots of people complained of some blue dominance that was difficult to correct and some quite bad backlight bleeding (both problems are non-existent on mine), maybe samsung changed panels because of that?

Will be interesting to find out from the owners here.

Well I tried the whole turn it down to 0 and hold source button for 5 seconds and it did nothing...and GW is glossy and has a contrast ratio of 10000:1 where as the BW has 8000:1 dynamic, although they are both 1000:1 typical

key specifications

* Screen Size : 22
* Resolution : 1680 x 1050
* Brightness : 300 cd/m²
* Contrast Ratio : DC 8000:1 (1000:1) (Typ.)

EDIT - k got it up, wasn't holding for long enough :p m-AQ22J0CAA-1001.0

Interesting, looks like you two got samsung panels. Apparantly they're the best out of the three panels. Where did you guys buy yours from?

Ordered mine online from www.e-3.co.za ,very good service as well, I'd send a email close to 10pm and got a reply a few minutes later :)

Regarding contrast ratio - very strange, some sites have it as 8000:1 and others as 10000:1. The ones with 10000:1 seem to have had their info taken directly from supplier pricelists.

One thing though, can you find a 2253GW on any Samsung website? I sure can't, which is why I maintain that it is the BW.

I got one from Frontosa, the other from Take2. Manufacture dates are week 31 and week 35 of this year.

Does anyone else use the dynamic contrast setting on their monitors? I tried it once and found it very distracting. Especially while gaming.

Also, is there any way to make the blue led not blink when in standby.

I got mine from IC. Haven't even tried dynamic contrast yet, don't like the idea of it at all. I'm just using the "game" setting and it looks pretty damn good for anything. I just turn my screen off whenever i'm not using it, but the blinking doesn't really annoy me anyway. Oh and did i mention how awesome this thing is? Going from 17inch crt to a 22 inch lcd is such an insane improvement. The best thing is, the performance of my games has improved dramatically due to the higher resolution. Turns out my cpu was a huge bottleneck for my graphics card, so after cranking up all the settings in cod4 and oblivion the games run butter smooth! Not bad for an old agp rig ^.^. What settings are you guys using for brightness/contrast?

I found the default and 'game' setting to be a bit bright, currently have it set on 60 brightness and 80 contrast.

I normally have it on game but at night I have it similar to detritus cause its just too bright if you're just browsing

Ive got the AA panel... So its the better one... Bought if from LandMarkPC online...

Mine was on 100/75 just changed it to GAME.. See how that goes
