Think prince should be dropped despite we won the game. Amla or Mckenzie should be a good replacement.
 
personally i think dipenaar should be booted. he has no place in the team because he hinders any gameplan with his slow batting. the only thing he may be useful for is drawing a game. at least prince is still an excellent fielder and he runs well between wickets.
 
But Prince cant throw.

A shoulder injury he suffered saw too that.

Gibbs and Prince should be given a "break". Bring in Amla & Duminy, give the team a fresh young look.

I hope Steyn continues to bowl well, i'd rather see Steyn in there than Nel until he ups his bowling game and downs his verbal game.

Anyway, nice win for the Proteas, albeit against a lowly NZ.

I disagree with ur point highflyer. Dippennaar did well in the centurion test, at least in the first innings with 52 whilst everyone else did crap. Prince and Rudolph don't have the technique for the better teams. their averages were mostly boosted by the likes of Bangladesh, Zim and West Indies. I'm been cautious about Amla. He also has dodgy technique but better than seen prince and rudolph playing so defensively all the time.

Nevertheless a win is a win. We should look to be more positive but choose to play the right balls. The top 5 should relook at the approach to batting and adjust to the pitch. Not just think we should play positive and flash at eveything.

rather look to score at 3 an over or dont bother playing the damn game

I'm yet to see the "Brave New Cricket" they spoke about .....

I'm not sure about Dipps, i think he and Kallis provide "stability" in the Top Order.
Unfortunately the faster scoring chaps like Smiff, Gibbs & AB (until last knock) have been getting out cheaply.

I think we need someone like Duminy who can rotate the strike in the middle ala Jonty without taking too many risks.

Lots to think about.

I see the next game is on the 27th ..... sheesh, what a long wait.

yeah need someone to rotate strike more often. U always need a mix of players in the team. Rocks like kallis and boeta are important for the team. I'm also worried about the bowling. Without Ntini we are really kuk...

thought kallis did really well as captain again aus...but yeah there is no other captain material in SA team right now. Maybe Gibbs...hmm...hmm...maybe not.
 
was interesting to watch extra cover last night on mnet, smith by his own admission said that there's some serious problems with their test game which they still looking at. our one day game isn't in such a mess as our test game is, the two ODI games we lost against the aussies were close and could have went either way. plus we moved up the rankings to 2nd. in tests we sitting quite low in the rankings

personally i think kallis makes a good captain, did a good job against aus in the final test

well Smith doesn't need to admit it. We all know the test team is poor. They also know we know they suck. I think Smith will become a good captain one day if he thinks less like an idiot and grow up. He also needs a decent team to captain.

Any views on the current coach?
 
coach is fine everyone blames the coaches

if players dont perform why blame anyone but them

playing and being a great test nation is simple
play like aussies
play it like its a one day game

look to go after the bowling
look to scores fast


as far as im concerned this block block thing we like to do is loosing us tests anyhow

so try a more positive approach

there is no problem with our one day team we could have beaten the aussies in all 5 games

i mean any team who can better 434 must be awesome
any team who cant defend 434 dont deserve to be number 1

Gibbs, very often getting bowled, there is another technical weakness.

But at the end of the day, it's not all the coaches fault if the players dont want to change their style of play.

EDIT2: I've found the Poms to annoy me more, the Aussies can be arrogant, they are the best.
They Poms blow their horns after every victory.....

we seem to do better under an authoritarian - really at this level more about motivation and mental strength than technique which all the players seem to have specific mentors for - recall how jimmy cook apparently sorted smith's balance out

i also think smiff could be okay as captain (and nobody else is putting their hand up so....) but he has a lot of growing up to do.....seems really uptight and takes himself far too seriously

Bring him in number 6 to 8 to try to save the game when all is lost for a win anyway
