23 inch - 27 inch screen hunt

hey guys, need some help finding a good buy on a LED or a good contrast/brightness LCD in 23 " or 27" full hd pc monitor.

gaming/viewing res is 1920x1080

budget is 2k / 2.2k

replacing a 21 inch full hd (benq g2220hd) its a good screen and has worked well with no dead pixels from day 1 but imho its time to move on to bigger things :> (need to get ready for bf3 and d3)

also it can have either dvi or hdmi

i usually use prophecy or pc zone or pinnacle.

prophecy seems to have no stock or they havent updated it yet

If you find any other good buys let me know :erm:


also how are the proline LED screens ? i can get one 23 inch from pinnacle for R1500 new

trying to track down that screen now from local suppliers, if its over priced heavily id rather just drive 5km and get the one from pc zone. will need to compare products first though
 
You'll struggle to find a 27" for R2,200, let alone a 23" LCD after the 30% tax increase from 95% of shops. In fact most 27" PC LCDs are now more expensive than 32" LCD TVs, which use much better panels which provide for better colours and blacks, and perhaps most importantly viewing angles. Most people here wouldn't touch PC Zone due to their after-sales service so keep that in mind, although you should be able to RMA Samsung without returning it to PC Zone. I would say anything from Samsung that fits your budget will be decent. I would stay away from LED back-lit LCD because they tend to have worse colours and most of the time have poor uneven lighting with light spots (far worse than CCFL LCD's common side light bleed).

went and bought the samsung led 23 inch for R1999. i bought the benq 21 inch for R1200 a year ago and its still working fine , i know pc zone and the after sales support and i always drill them gently to get my stuff.

only issues i had was a defective batch of 3 graphics cards and that was gigabytes fault and my own because at that time i did not know gigabyte was crap
 
Gigabyte isn't crap and they are regarded one of the best PC enthusiast brands. Perhaps a bad batch, otherwise luck of the draw. ;)

Anyway, enjoy the new screen.

man what a difference lol , this screen is really awesome. now im ready for bf3 and d3 !

whats weird though .... it only has vga + hdmi so i had to fork out a bit for hdmi cable aswell

Nice, does it have speakers/speaker output jacks?
