I'm want to buy a 24" Wide Screen LCD. I'm not going to use it for gaming so I'm not really worried about response time and contrast ratio.

2ms and 3000:1 will be great but I'll be happy with 5ms and 1500:1 as well.

Anyone have some good prices?

Hi there

If you looking for specs like that and a low-ish price, try one of the Acer 24" range, or one of the HP screens that just came out that use TN panels. Those prices vary up to about R5000 give or take.

If you can afford it, and want one of the best 24" monitors ever, get a BenQ FP241W. I've got this beast and it's simply beyond amazing. The price is a little steep but it's an investment for a long time.

I have the updated version of the FP241W , the G2400W, I picked it up for 4k at PcMart in Pretoria.

It really is an awesome monitor, it has d-sub(vga), DVI and HDMI inputs, plus speakers, which I haven't tested yet.

Overall picture quality is excellent, loved what Assasins Creed looked like on here via the ps3 when you activating view points it gives you a panoramic view of the surrounds then you really appreciate the quality of this monitor.

Incredible also has 2 Acer 24" Models available between 4k - 4.5k they look good as well, the 4.5k one has an hdmi input as well.

It's amazing how 24"s are generally 2 grand more than the 22"s for such a small increase in view area :D

I personally had two 22"'s prior to obtaining my G2400W, but I think the G2400w @4k is priced competetively, when compared to the cost of the Samsung 22" @+/- R2630 .

In the end it's the full 1920x1200 that makes the diff for me on the ps3

@Piesang, that is correct it is the same Acer models I was referring to earlier. The one for R 4499 has vga, dvi and hdmi inputs

Yes. The HDMI is nice but I don't play games at all. Not on PC or PS3.

Although. Am I right if I say you can connect a High Definition DVD player to it? Or something like the new High Definition DSTV Decoders that is coming?

yep you should be able to hook up your hd equipment via hdmi for the full 1920x1200

seen as you don't use it for gaming, you can also consider the 26" sinotech tv with a 5yr warranty at marko for like 3999, only thing is that the resolution does something like 1366x---- and not the 1920x1200 liek the 24" LCD Monitors.

Yep 26" lcd sir 1366 x 768, dunno if it is still available, but you can always check

they had it seperate on a mailshot that I received, but you can all your local store and enquire about it

I've seen a Samsung 245T in Incredible Cresta for R4999, which uses a Samsung S-PVA panel. I wonder if there are any dealers here who could source this monitor for cheaper... it is probably available from Tarsus.
