is there any difference between the makes of hdmi cables?
this guy at the one store tried to sell me one for R599 saying it was Blu Ray certified and it can also do 1440 hd bla bla bla.a cable for R599 ? :eek:.
i just got an Ellies one from Game.it does the job :)

with analog cabling i can understand that there is a difference in quality which influences results. but HDMI is digital, right? so a R600 cable is more digital than a R100 cable?

You should never pay more than $10 for a standard six-foot HDMI cable. And despite what salesmen and manufacturers might tell you, there's no meaningful difference between the $10 cable and the $50 cable. Unless you see something obvious, such as dropouts or a flashing screen, the digital information transmitted by both cables is exactly the same--no cable can make the picture any better or any worse.

I got one at my local computer shop. R100 for a 5m cable. You definitely won't be able to tell any differences between a R100 and a R500 other than your wallet will weigh a lot less.
 
Can I ask a few doff questions (not doff to me 'cos i don't know these things but maybe for you guys :D)

1. i already have an xbox 360 (60G) and a Wii, should i get this PS3 bundle?
2. i saw in another thread summing about blue-ray discs playing on ps3, do they?
3. what is an hdmi cable?
4. do you have to have an HD tv for ps3 (i'm sure you need it for blue-ray)
5. will my parental unit have a puppy if i buy this too? :D
6. Will the ps3 be as difficult to connect to the bloody internet as Xbox (i've been trying for 2 days now and nothin'! I did it before and upgraded the Xbox, that was quite a few months ago and now i can't get it right again!)

I just checked out the Kalahari bundle and i welled up. It's so preddy and shiny and has a BR remote. Plus I'd rather have Wolverine and The Dark Knight. Although that would all be useless without the HD tv right now. *sigh* i dunno what to do, i haven't got a clue, i don't know what to doooo!

But then again, the world is gonna end in 2012, so live it up now right?

I dont know - if you got the older spec Xbox like i had that f@#$@# me over twice then you should get a PS3 but if you happy with your Xbox and its got the hdmi option and you dont require blu ray then the Xbox is still a beast. And that controller is so sexy to hold.... :p The PS3 controller is good but the Xbox one is just :eek:

LOL, maybe you and the controller need to get a room 'kay. well i've been saving my a$$ off to go on a cruise next year and it looks like it'll be much less than what i've saved so far. So screw paying off the car first, lets go whole hog!

there's nothing wrong with my xbox (i don't know if it's what you'd consider an old one, i bought it in dec last year and no RROD yet [please G*d] except that i can't get online with it again :mad: stupid xbox with it's primary dns this and ip address that) or wii. But the ps3 is so pretty (the kalahari one). I never had video games as a kid (cue violins) except the li'l handhelds-and then, not even donkey kong. so i guess i'm making up for it now. it'll be a Christmas gift from me to me, just like me Xbox :) I got the wii 'cos i wanted to exercise and have fun at the same time, and i don't do the gym scene, that bores the living cr@p outta me.

Wait, what are you playing your XBox on at the moment? If you're using an LCD computer monitor, then you can use that with the PS3 too :)
