250K

Seems like a W203 facelift to me as well.

Yip. 2005 C220 cdi.

Original clutch, exhaust and just about everything else. Voltage regulator was replaced twice, water pump once, starter motor replaced, high pressure fuel pump was overhauled a few 100k km back. I bought a new battery (in Mthatha) when the voltage regulator went because it was the easiest and cheapest way to get the hell out of there and go home, but the original battery is still functional too.

I have replaced wheel rims quite often, but I don't blame merc for that.

Has your central locking broken at all?

Did it make 250'000km with zero failures? Then it is an acceptable car. Otherwise I'll stick to a brand where that is the norm.

Good question. Actually about 3 or so years ago clutch gave in, had to have it replaced, other than that just the normal wear and tear and regular services.

We had a 2001 Renault Megane 1.4 that clocked 250km. Problems started just before then when the water pump went and then the head needed an overhaul. I decided to just replace the old gal. (Many a PTA to Cape Town and back trip done in her). The mechanic who bought it from us, fixed her up and she is back on the road (according to the E-toll account I received not too long ago )

My Wifes '06 A180 will probably be kept until it falls apart.
