Right, I'm looking for the above as cheap as possible. I see them every now and then for R2200 to R2700. Not concerned about make but would prefer something other than bydesign.

Any ideas guys?

I've got a 32" HiSense in the bedroom and very happy with it, my neighbour has a 27" and its just so much smaller. At this size Full-HD vs HD-Ready is not an issue, you can get a 32" Samsung at HiFi for R3K

I wouldn't waste my time with anything smaller than 32" - I think the size benefit outweighs the small cost difference. My 2c.

Loving my 32" SINOTEC.

Use it as my main pc screen + xbox screen ... works perfectly even 4m away.

If it's for the bedroom - my brother was also looking and decided on LED Hisense - so much thinner and unless you have a huge bedroom I'd stick with LED.

If you mount it on the wall the difference is negligible. Mine is not LED but the old fat boys and it makes no difference. Not so sure about other models but my HiSense actually came with its own wall bracket and they cost about R200 upwards

Don't ignore HiSense, one of the better entry level brands and actually outperforms Samsung models in the same price range - this is from international consumer reviews.

Which site(s)? Models? Links please?

Ag, we've all gotta defend our purchases - brand name or cheapie. :p

;)

I will agree that Hisense is king of the cheapo brands.

I forgot to bookmark the reviews and sadly the URL was not burnt into the LCD, should have used a Plasma instead ;)

Ah, k. Hearsay then as I suspected.

Personally I can recommend the slightly diluted version of my LA32C550, the LA32C530. Do try and get a SQ panel (Samsung - the best panels) though.

I also have experience with the LA32C350 - HD Ready, but really isn't too bad for SD TV. I'd imagine the LA32C450 can only be better.

Of course, the other option - if provided there is space - would be the god-like PS42C430 at only ±R4,500, the price of branded FHD 32" LCD. Totally superior, of course.

;)

Nice specs even if its only 720i and I see the power consumption is lower than a 40" Telefunken LCD. Must say a 42" in the room is a bit too porno though but is perfect for the lounge.

HI-SENSE is actually turning into a good make for price vs value ratio!

Get the Samsung 32C530. Goes For R4400 or around that. The media player functionality is one of the best features, especially for the bedroom
