27" Screens Resolution

6 Series is top notch stuff. Real 100Hz engines, much better blacks/colours that rival plasma. Much better than 5 Series 50Hz etc. Seeing as there are no 100Hz CCFL backlit LCDs from Samsung any more, you haven't answered my question...

Is it solely for PC use? AFAIK PC Mode disables 100Hz and other motion benefits of 6 Series.

Nope I will be watching TV on it as well.

Its going into my office and I will be able to tilt the screen so I can use it as a monitor at my desk or watching DSTV HD from a couch.

O no here we go again but lcd the motion to me doesn't look good.

Archer postman will tell you i am lying but i sit 1m away from 46" and i cannot see the pixels dude. If you looking to see more than it won't work and 3 eye finity monitors will be better. It looks just like my 24" that i sit about 50cm away from except bigger. The pixels are smaller than a grain of sand, seriously not visible, i was also worried when i bought it i thought OMG i hope the pixels are not huge. Buy samsung archer if you get a big screen tv because they got pc mode and game mode, so they gave some thought to the pc guys :D.

Or you can get 1x 30" Dell screen with 2560x1600 resolution like me :D

Me too! It's the only way to go, I will never be able to turn back......

Postman won't tell Archer anything of the sort. Haven't the faintest what you're on about.

Sitting 1m from a 46" is insane though!

LG has PC mode too.

Lol, this guy... :D

Did i say they were the only one?

I couldn't care less who does it, samsung does and it works bloody well :D and i cannot vouch for LG, never used it. 1m is not insane it is bloody amazing.

I saw LG have a new led out with no black plastic and it's paper thin. Not sure if they will make smaller screen for eyefinity

OK My report back. Hope I make sense...

The Samsung LED TV's look great when using a VGA cable but for some reason the text sucks beyond when connecting to HDMI (Guess it has to do with the 100Hz engines PostmanPot mentioned) Games & VLC movie playback on HDMI is out of this world and much better than using VGA or shall I say VGA Gaming & Movies = my BenqQ but is much more smoother and brighter when using the HDMI.

I need to play some more but I see myself switching between the 2 modes depending on what I use the TV/Monitor for. Pity about the text not being perfect via hdmi :(

The old Samsung LCD TV that was replaced in my bedroom did not have this hdmi/vga difference and both games and movies looked the same as my BenQ monitor, it did not matter what connection I used.

So if you not planing on watching movies or playing games(From the couch) its not worth the extra $$$ if you ask me ie: just get a plain LCD.

Have you enabled PC Mode when you refer to "Monitor" by renaming port 'HDMI 1' to 'DVI PC' under 'Source List'?

HUH?

I just select source and that has only PC, HDMI and TV. When I look for options on the picture mode it only has dynamic, and standard. I was looking for some way to tell the TV that HDMI is a PC but could not find anything. The useless people that dropped it off had no clue either (Guess it was there 1st LED install onto PC's)

PC = VGA output
HDMI = HDMI Cable and only shows up when plugged in and the PC was on.

The TV has 5 HDMI ports I tried to move it to others as the 1st HDMI had (DVD) in brackets where the others did not. Still same crap with text, but I can see a clear as daylight change between VGA & HDMI "sources" in both colors and animation, HDMI was brighter and smoother but not as clear as VGA.

;)

I have the LA32C550 myself, the Samsung 5 Series are really nice PC screens for a very cheap price considering the size, and that 27" PC TN LCD is more expensive.

Would be interesting to compare 5 Series vs 6 Series at PC Mode (disables all the fancy 100Hz etc.)

Well if I compare it to my Old LCD i had in the bedroom:
If I sit more than 1 meter away from it, no difference whatsoever and I would even go so far to bet no one would even be able to tell them apart.
30cm from eyes like this one on my desk, I can not see the pixels on LED but did notice them on the LCD (Had to look).

Where I do see the biggest difference is like you said, when watching DSTV its asif the movement is smoother, its like going from 32 fps to 120+ fps in a game is the best I can describe it.

Yup i have been trying to tell postman about the pixels on the led but he won't believe me :D. For pc usage you want led not lcd.

Well that is a small part why I went LED and yes there is defiantly a difference but only when you use it as a monitor(Up close). My biggest reason to change was because LED does not flicker (On/Off) like old LCD's with its florescent lights, so its better for my old eyes ;)

Disclaimer: I went from HD ready LCD to Full HD LED, I suspect Full HD LCD I might not have noticed the pixel difference?

Which old LCD? HD Ready?

You have a 46" LCD, your pixels are much bigger than a 32".

You still don't understand that your TV has the same old LCD pixel matrix. Your pixels cannot be smaller than an LCD. You have an LCD. Lol. :D

When you in jhb you should come have a look, the pixels are no bigger than my 24". Next time you in jhb come and have a look.
Which old 46" lcd is like mine could you give me a model number please. I would like to compare it.

4 series or what?

Eish google is not helping me here, very difficult to find out what panel they used on the 46" lcd over the 5 series. Did it also have crystal clear technology?

Yup, you have around a million more pixels, nothing to do with LED backlighting. But of course killa totally misconstrued this into thinking your old LCD was FHD lol.

LOL dude you cannot be serious. If the pixels are the same size then your 46" LCD ain't 1920x1080! :D:D

One thing I did find funny is Full HD LCD at 32" is almost the same price as a LED TV, I think it was about R800 difference.

LED TV's sure did come down in price, but I suspect its because the rest of the world moved onto crap like 3D and now TV's that have full PVR or media center functionality.

Postman please show me where they use the same stuff as lcd please. Gimme the link.

You said it now back it bud. Then i will concede i am wrong
