Half thinking of getting a new screen this year. Options are one big 27", or 3 smaller ones for portrait eyefinity. Question on the 27", is it an upgrade at all (from a single 23") if its still 1920x1080? Just doesnt feel right to me :p

still 1920x1080, but if you from your 23 inch to a sa950 27 inch, IT IS A HUGE DIFFRENCE EVERYTHING LOOKS SO SHINY ON THAT MONITOR :P

Dell 27 inch have 25xx x 14xx res, but it is not cheap, would buy hr sa950 then rather :P

I would rather go for 3 smaller screens, you get triple the resolution and more desktop real estate. One of those high res Dells would be another option.

3 x 23" all the way.

The only problem with the 3 screens in portrait is (accepting the fact that you can live with such narrow screens): color shift.

It is horrendous when you turn the screen sideways - go on try it for a day or two.

Which means you will have to go with IPS panels anyway, in which case I would much rather buy a DELL u2311.

But that is just what I would do.

Ok, so all of you wanting me to get 3 smaller ones, find me one with thin (ish) and straight bezels... :p

1920X1080 just isn't right. I would go with 1920X1200 as a minimum, although they are relatively scarce these days sadly.

I've always wondered if anyone out there has removed the electronics & panels and the built them into a custom enclosure so you can get rid of those wide bezels butting the two/three panels right up to each other.

Maybe it could be a new special project for you :D

Rather get 32" or higher led tv if possible. Awesome for pc and gaming.

Why do people like eyefinity, those black borders would drive me insane.

Its been done... but to stop light bleeding out you are still left with around 5mm bezels

Cause you see more thats why. And I cant go larger than 27" at HD resolution since I'm only 40-50cm away from my screen

Well just bought 2 x 32" LED (32B6000 at 1920x1080) TV's today.... will let you know tomorrow.

In the shop I recon it will look better than my current BenQ 24" running the same resolution, and no both is not going onto the same PC.

Widest screen ever! :p Ok well let me know, I know killa likes his setup... I just get the feeling that the pixels will get so big that it'll irritate me... or will AA settings sort that out? If only shops would let you test stuff for 2-3 days before buying everything would be so much simpler!

Thanx for catching that, Fixed :)

I asked them to connect a Laptop to it to see. It did not look to bad. I did try on a Sony 32" LCD as well just to compare and its one hell of a diff. On the LCD I could see the pixalation very clearly which was not the case on the LED.

But like I said final test comes tomorrow when they deliver as things always looks great at a shop esp if I did not have my current screen next to it to see the difference.

Why not LCD? What makes LED better than LCD? :/

In that case best bang for buck would be LG/Dell 23" IPS LCD. LG 23" IPS LCD with LED back-lighting is going for around R2,600 retail now, damn good price. They all use the same/similar LG IPS panels, Dell is better factory calibrated and darker blacks IIRC. IMO wouldn't go 27" at that viewing distance.

You could also try get this while in US, great value with proper height adjustable ergonomic stand - http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-VP2365-LED-23-Inch-Monitor-Black/dp/B0053YKE72.

Well what sold me was this review http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/lcd/samsung_ue-32b6000.htm

Also seeing the difference in the shop with an actual PC made me spend the extra R1.5K without even blinking.

6 Series is top notch stuff. Real 100Hz engines, much better blacks/colours that rival plasma. Much better than 5 Series 50Hz etc. Seeing as there are no 100Hz CCFL backlit LCDs from Samsung any more, you haven't answered my question...

Is it solely for PC use? AFAIK PC Mode disables 100Hz and other motion benefits of 6 Series.
