About to pull the trigger on the Samsung LA32D550 for R3499 at Game.

Anybody know about the panel lottery situation on the D-series?

Would be bummed if I don't get a S-PVA panel.. Using it as a PC monitor..

I'm so tempted myself to get this. Did a bit of research last night and saw on AVS forum that there is a sticker on the box with a SQ01, which means it's got a S-PVA panel. The only thing holding me back is the new Samsung S27A950D 27" 3D monitor that's launching next month. The TV @ Game is on special till September, so maybe I should wait a bit.

Game screwed up with the previous LCD they were keeping aside for us (thank heavens), so they told us we could come and pick one of these up this afternoon. Just finished setting it up and I'm really impressed. Picture is a lot better than the Full HD Toshibas we've got at work and the sound is pretty damn good too. Plays stuff from my HDD's beautifully.

So, what features will I get with a network cable connected to my ADSL router and how good are the Allshare features? The manual and website doesn't say much. Guess I need to check the e-manual... or I'll just do it tomorrow and see.

Don't see an SQ01 sticker anywhere on the box.

Coool, any other serial numbers anywhere else? Please could you tell me what the viewing angles are like?

I bought at incredible, they did a price-match against Game, 3 weeks ago @ R3999 for an LG32LE5500. Its absolutely amazing to me.

Nice! Would love to check out those LED edge-lit S-IPS panels!

I got my LA32D550 last night, SQ01 Panel (@Quantum Theory: Check on the right-hand edge of your screen).
The blacks on this screen are friggin amazing, and the colours...:|, didn't take much at all to adjust for pc use, absolutely crispy-clean!
I'm in monitor heaven..

Yep, right side of the screen. Seems most of the SA panels are SQ's. What you don't want is CA/CC/CN or AA/AU etc. (although AU is the better of the two).

AFAIK the reason the SQ panels are sought after is that they have a higher % colour gamut (better colours), as well as lower response time/input lag.

The colours are amazing on my 32" C550 SQ compared to my BenQ 24" TN panel.

If you have 90cm - 1m+ viewing distance, go for the 32" instead. ;)

One more thing. Anyone using this screen as a PC LCD, the most important trick in getting the LCD TV identical to what you're used to in a PC LCD is by using the HDMI1/DVI port, and then in the menu under Source List, renaming HDMI1/DVI to DVI PC. This disables over-scan (screen doesn't fit properly) and enables 4:4 pixel mapping - what ever that is, it's what you want when using a 32". :p

You guys should post your settings. I'll post mine too and we can see how they differ.

Nice, do tell more. What games do you play on it and how is it? It doesn't feel too big when playing FPS? You don't have to look around alot? Do you have PS3 by any chance? How does that look on there. Ghosting, Input lag?

I have 27" inch atm, so I don't think it will be that much of a change. I'm after the improved colour of the S-PVA compared to my TN. I want to be tempted to go to Game this weekend and get one. :)

I play Black Ops and Starcraft 2 with no problem. Need 90cm - 1m viewing distance though.

My eyes are about 1m away from my 27" atm. I have a huge ass desk and my monitor is standing in the middle of the desk, so I can move it back more if need be. I also move it forward when I'm playing Shift2/Dirt3 with my steering wheel. To get a good in car effect.

Sounds good. 32" really is the perfect size. :D

I was also worried about gaming like you are, and I really cannot fault it.

I play BFBC2, GTAIV and Mass Effect 2 at the moment.

0 input-lag / ghosting issues.

I'm beyond happy with it. Viewing angles on this S-PVA utterly destroy TN-panels and rival IPS. Colours and deep blacks (very important to me) are amaazing, I swear, TN suuuucks!!
I know store-demos are not to be trusted, but it clearly had the PQ advantage over every other 32" there.

Fraid no PS3, but 32" doesn't force you to look around the screen at all, perfect pc screen size imo. My friend's 40" is monstrous compared to mine.

I had 2x P2770H's, and unf. I had endless problems with them, almost put off the brand altogether, ..but you'll be proud of yourself if you get one of these babies, ..I kno I am! ;P

I was watching some HD mountain bike movies last night directly from a 1.5TB HDD. Blown away! My old iOmega player linked to pretty good Toshiba 32" doesn't even come close...

I am ready to pull the trigger on one of these, however Game also has a special on a Samsung LED for about the same price.
The LED is only HD ready but watching DSTV HD(which is not full hd afaik) the LED looked better to me.
Now i am stuck in a pickle....Full HD stuff will look better on the LCD but everything else should look better on the LED. The again, not sitting clsoe to the screen will i even notice full HD looking different? I dont know what to do....fml
