so if you have a 3G phone, you can use it for calls, sms's or browsing and when on the PC you just plug it in. brilliant idea.

vodacom people, we are considering cancelling our ADSL but we are not sure to take up mtn, voda or cellC, if you decide to launch the package on top up (even if its R199 for consider it) then you will have more customers but if you are selfish then we will opt for MTN or CellC.
The choice is yours...

Only if your phone supports 900 UMTS, to take advantage of Cell C's network.

They did until they decided to sell them. Don't know what happened with that deal but as i understand it they still keep their equipment.

Don't get what Jannie is implying here. Cell C has 1600 base stations in commercial use. Up 50 from last week which is hardly surprising. I would think it's natural they would have many more in development and testing which would all be in commercial use by the end of the year.

If Cell C wants some more testers for this I'm willing and available. :)

The 1600 statement was in Sept 2010, the 1550 in Apr 2011, i.e. 7 month later it's 50 less.

But it seems you get towers and commercial towers. I'm lost. :)
 
Oh I see... didn't follow the timeline

I would expect towers to be properly tested before they go commercial. Doesn't Vodacom do that? If so why can't Cell C do it as well? If they don't it would explain the poor service.

So I went to VC Musgrave today to find out about this promo...

According to the sales rep:

1. This is a data only sim so I won't be able to use it on my phone to make calls, etc.
2. I won't be able to keep my existing VC cell number if I take this contract.

If this is true then I'm seriously considering moving to CellC!
 
2 Days to go, hopefully Vodacom makes ninja changes to the OOB rates, because of MTN's offer. Can only hope...

Then it wont work for me either. I wanted a contract for my phone, but wont be able to do that.

Had such high hopes for this, but in the end it turned out to be a turkey.
 
I can't go through every post in this thread :/

But I'm guessing one can't transfer an existing contract to the new 2GB due to it being a promo?

You need to sign upfront?

Also - with or without a modem included?
