In your mind ...rent free
I saw a 2.5" 2tb for 1300 ...

is that a good price and how reliable are the small ones

obviously looking after it and not dropping it

thanks

I personally think you should have a big hdd inside your pc cause it lasts there. With a portable drive at some point you will drop it .However the price is good considering it is a 2.5"

I picked up my 2tb for R999 on special at game. It is a 3.5" though.

yeah i have a 1tb for last 4 years ....but its 3.5" and im struggling with space and its crazy moving it around all the time lol

what purpose do you need it for? my 2tb has all my downloaded series that I watched. Sort of archived, I only power it up to copy stuff onto it...

Stuff that I still need to watch is on my laptop...

It is a good price, the brand is also important - reliability. Seagate is good, Western Digital better.

I paid R1600 for a 2.5", 2TB Western Digital Passport about a month ago, so R1300 is a good price, yeah.
I have found 2.5" externals to be equally reliable to 3.5" drives. Don't drop it, don't throw it and don't shower with it and you should be fine.

I bought the same one from Takealot: http://www.takealot.com/computers/e...rt-essential-2tb-2-5-inch-extern-etc,29920643

2.5" USB Powered, USB 3.0, 2TB. Works like a boss.

To the OP - that price of R1300 seems very good. Just make sure you have a reputable brand, and you're buying from a reputable store that will honour any warranty issues. Also, make sure your drive is USB 3 compatible. USB 2 drives in the same capacity will generally be quite a bit cheaper.

toshiba ?

I have one of these, also from Incredible, They work fine, I like the fact that if you pop it open the usb 3 connector is on a bridge not on the Drive mainboard like the WD drives. So if the Micro USB3 connector is damaged, which often happens you can just buy a cheap enclosure and swop the drives if your data is more important than the warranty. It opens very easily too, just one swipe with a boxcutter.

Toshiba seems to work nice I've had no trouble with mine had it 3+ years , my friends toshiba died but his sister did throw it at him. So you can't blame the drive for that. :D

My 2TB Samsung died in 9 months at least i had the warranty

My Seagates havn't worried me at all. plus they usb 3 so they nice and quick.

IC has the toshiba for 1299

and i never saw a usb 2 2.5" 2tb

it has a 12 month warranty
i have had nightmares with WD - wont go anywhere near them again

seagate is my 1st choice.

if you want, I can probably arrange the same toshiba unit on monday for R1000 ( brand new, sealed in box - also via IncCon)
pm me if you are interested

I can say the same for Seagate, every single Seagate drive I've ever owned had to be replaced under warranty at least once within a couple of months of purchase.

WD on the other hand has never given me a single issue, still have 2x320GB WD RE drives that's been running for around 8 years now having been transferred from PC to PC as I upgraded still going strong. Got an old 40GB and 80GB running in another box as well, they are both probably older than 10 years now.
