Johannesburg - Three police officers will appear in court in Soshanguve on Thursday after allegedly soliciting a bribe from a motorist, said Gauteng police.

The 45-year-old inspector and two constables, ages 25 and 28, were arrested after allegedly soliciting the bribe from a motorist driving a stolen vehicle, said Inspector Sello Mangena.

The three members of the flying squad stopped a Red Ford Blazer on Wednesday and informed the driver and his four passengers that it had been reported stolen in Limpopo.

The car was taken into storage and the five occupants taken to Rietgat police station.

"At the parking area one of the policeman told the driver's male friend that we need something to make a plan.

"The man said something to the friend who handed over R200 to the driver to give to the police. The driver then [added] R100 to make R300," said Mangena.

"The driver gave R300 to the inspector. They opened the van for him for his freedom because he paid the 'admission of guilt fine'," said Mangena.

However, later in the same day, the driver returned to the police station to open a case of corruption. The three police officers were then arrested.

"They were in full uniform and their police rank and name tags were removed from there," said Mangena.

Admission of guilt fee. LOL

I was stopped by a cop once, can't remember what for, but he tried to feed me the same kind of BS. Told him to get lost and he did. Good to hear corrupt cops going down though.

3 down, thirty thousand to go. Then come all the civil servants and government employees.

Yip, at the current rate, how many years will it be before there is zero corruption? 20, 50, 100 years? Hell more corrupt officials are appointed per year then are arrested.

I don't get this. He was caught driving a stolen vehicle, but reported the cops for corruption  So what happened to the driver then?
