I currently have about R20k lying in my bank account for a while now and will only need it in 3 months time.

Where would be the best place to put it to get some kind of return, and would it be worth it?

Needing it in 3 months means you probably don't want to subject it to risk like stockmarket, crypto etc?

Risk it on bitcoin.
Yeah, risk a third of it on high risk/high reward. If you 25%+ on 1/3 of 20k you've made more than the 4-6% such a short safe investment will return. Else yeah - Allan Gray etc. is the saefst bet.

In a money market fund it will only grow about R500 to R600 over that 3 month period, might not even be worth the effort. Just leave it where it is till you use it in 3 months.

If you're sure you won't need access to it in these 3 months, you can look at a fixed deposit. Otherwise, a money-market unit trust or the NFTRCI ETF.

If you're ready for a slightly higher risk with a possibly slightly higher return, look at Coronation's Strategic Income fund.

Probably Capitec fixed account for such a short period. Compare their rates to other banks.

Considering it is not a large amount and a short period. Whatever is safe and the least paperwork. Something like a 32 day notice or money market.

Red or Black!

48.6% chance of doubling! Of course, 48.6% chance of losing it all ...
