Damn...I'm still waiting for 1 Aug. b4 I call up Telkom to sign up but this definitely looks very promising...now if we can get 1 mbit line for the price.....oooooooh

dont forget it takes a fair amount of time to get installed.

bumzilla you can safely call telkom right this moment and sign up because you will not get your line installed before 1st of August.

And people customer loyalty will not open up the internet market in SA, Just look at all us loyal Vodacom subscribers, because of us being so "loyal" Vodacom can get away with being the most expensive and still have the most subscribers of all the cellphone networks.

If Hyperlink turn out good, and Axxess dont do something drastic I'll move over to hyperlink just like I'll be going over to CellC with my next Cellphone contract. I'll do my small, insignificant part.

I use a 30 gig account from Hyperlink and its just a normal saix account. so its just as fast as any telkom accounts out there.

Off topic but hold out for the number portability before you make the move - there might be a few good incentives to stay/move that get offered.

Are you stuck in a contract with Mweb? This is the exact reason why I'm so anti contracts. On the up side Dominic, Mweb might bring their prices down as well.

But it does sound crazy to think you pay R329 for 3GB when you can get 30GB for R350.

It just goes to show how badly Telkom have been ripping us off. How can they all of a sudden offer such cheap accounts when bandwidth is supposed to be so expensive?

ADSL192 could theoretically do just over 60gigs.

If I sign up for ADSL192 now, can I later upgrade to 384 or 512. I imagine that the hardware, line and DSLAM's are the same for various options, and an upgrade would be just some admin work on Hellkom's side.
Would I be correct in my thinking?

I see on the axxess FAQ page that you have to cancel 5 working days before the end of the month to avoid their debit order for next month coming off your bank account. Thats by this Friday coming.

It's not mentioned on the website, but we do accept monthly EFT or cash deposit as payment.

If you would rather like to pay by EFT, just dont complete the debit order section of the subscription, and just write on the subscription that you would like to pay by EFT.

You will then receive an invoice every month.

I guess axxess must make a comment about this so they don't lose their customers ...

I am fairly certain that they will drop prices as well, as the root of the price drop is SAIX as it seems. So it will be very stupid if they don't lower prices ...

Taking into account (from their survey) most of their customers come from myadsl, so there is a good chance that most of their clients will be aware of the new pricing very soon.

I bet Hyperlink is hoping that Axxess doesnt make their announcement any time soon And i'm sure Axxess are considering sweating bullets. If half of their clients come from MyADSL then now they stand lose at least half of that half. Hmmm, what to do what to do!

Great to see this type of competition amongst the isp's, wouldnt it be fantastic if the same thing happened with actual Telekoms providers, ie Telkom and a few others duking it out, ahh my valhalla!
Im curious as to why all these changes are happening right now. One wonders if its not all a direct result of the Icasa report that public has yet to see.
