30gig R599

*cough cough*

To get back to the topic ladies and gents... "30gig R599" for those who forgot ;)

I were signed up with SAOL for their 10 GB per month offer on my 512 connection from the dreaded 1st November and typically ran out of gigs after a couple of days. This resulted in me having to purchase more gigs regularly.

So when AllYouCanEat offered 30 gigs per month at R 680 I immediately signed up and cancelled at SAOL. Unfortunately I did not know about SAOL's R 599 for 30 GB's offer but my IT manager did and he signed us up for that offer (as well) seeing that it's R 81.00 cheaper than AllYouCanEat. So when I found out (an hour later) I cancelled with AllYouCanEat (Aslam there very helpful and understanding of my problem, he gave excellent service).

Now here's the big problem and what I want to warn everybody on the forum about... SAOL offered me the 30 GB's per month at R 599.00 WITHOUT informing me that my connection speed will drop DRAMATICALLY. Currently only getting about 7 Kb/sec!!! Various phone calls / e-mails to SAOL's helpdesk and the problem is still not resolved. It seems that SAOL moved me to "their own server" (?) and that I'm NOT on SAIX anymore.

SAOL offering me 30 GB's per month at R 599.00 and then dropping my connection speed seems very unethical to me as well as a serious misrepresentation / false adverstising. Perhaps it's just teething problems, I don't know... but SAOL failing to communicate with me is just plain bad service. I now demand that I be refunded and am more than willing to pay the extra R 81.00 for the great service from AllYouCanEat.

Anyway... just my story to keep you guys informed... I'll try to keep you guys up to date.

Caveat Emptor!

Out of interest, do you get 7k/s on all protocols or only on p2p? Perhaps this is running on the same system as their IPC uncapped solution, that doesnt allow p2p?

enjoy reading new offers etc. It allows us as users to comment on the offers, providing the isp with feedback.

I do too. I dont wanna hunt down each ISP site a week to find best offer. I am sure a lot of ISP's get ideas from Myadsl and it is a great way *esp for ISP's that get invovled" Like Cheetah,Saol,Mr Beep, Dotco etc to post and recieve feedback.

Spoke to Neethi at SAOL this morning (also refer to the new thread on this - "SAOL Slow after Change?" where Pedantic from SAOL responded.)

According to SAOL our favourite company Telkom failed to installed a line resulting in the slow speeds (Why am I not surprised... After 3 months I'm still waiting for a couple of lousy ISDN lines for my PBX).

The good news is that hopefully the slow speed problem (once again according to SAOL) should be rectified by this afternoon.

To answer your questions, Clipse and Sunsoffun... speed is not constant, thus I don't believe that I've been move to a Diginet line... and it's not only on p2p.

It's now wait and see... *sigh*
African-time... *yawn*
Christmas is coming... *twiddle my thumbs*
etc. ;)

SAOL haven't been answering their E-Mail for the past 3 days at least. I've been really supportive of them thus far, but if they're thinking this "ignore the customer" BS is going to fly they're in for a big freakin' surprise.
