32 to 64 laptop

You must completely reinstall Windows when going from 32 to 64 bit.

Upgrading or simply switching from Windows 7 32 to 64 bit is not possible.

The Windows 7 key will work with both 32 and 64 bit, but only one can be installed at a time per license key.

Here's the Windows 7 64bit drivers: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...Id=4173277&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4058

^ what NomNom said... reinstall and use your Win7 32-bit key. Remember that you may also need 64-bit drivers for some of your plug-in hardware and peripherals.

Got this hp laptop with W7 premium 32.

How do I do to get W7 premium 64 on it. Is it software, new chip or new laptop.

specs.

Oh and sorry didn't answer your question, Windows 7 is software (Operating System) it runs the show, so if you intend to upgrade to 64bit you will need to do a full reinstall of your entire laptop, which means the laptop will be wiped clean, so I suggest you save any and all work and documents to a different pc, then you can pop it back on when you're done.

If you are new to this and I mean very new to this I highly recommend you give your laptop to a IT specialist to format and upgrade the windows for you.

You will also obviously need the Windows 64 bit premium disk, as your current one is most probably 32bit one.

If the specs you posted are the correct ones i'd say going to 64bit is pretty pointless as it says max Ram for that laptop is 4GB.

their was no cd with it, preloaded.

What ram does 64bit likes/wants.
I have formatted win98 and xp but not 7 before.

You will need to call the MS callcenter when activating it, its tollfree.

Also poimt to note ure laptop will need to be a minimum of a dualcore to run 64bit

Leave 32bit w7 on it - your not going to get any advantage with w7 64bit unless your running greater than 4Gb ram which that laptop cant

Not really. Lots of single core CPU's are 64bit capable. The entry level Celeron 430 as well as some of the Atom CPU's are 64bit capable. I even have an old Pentium 4 CPU in my home server that ran Windows Home Server 2011 64bit before downgrading to WHS v1 but thats a whole different story. :(

Ah Ok - like the others have said just get hold of a 64bit version install it & you can use your 32bit win7 key to activate it(should be on the sticker on the bottom of your laptop).
You need to do a full reinstall - it will wipe everything off your Harddrive - so you need to backup what you want to keep.
