Currently have 2 wireless controllers. Was thinking of also using them on the kids PCs, by purchasing 2 of those wireless receivers, rather than upgrading their PC gamepads. Problem is the 2 PCs are in the same room, which will obviously create a controller/receiver match problem, in the same way that I can't use the receiver on my own PC if the 360 is close by and in "standby". So if I'm going to have to buy controllers, I might as well get 2 wired 360 controllers, which I can use on the 360 as well, giving me 2 wireless and 2 wired. Any probs running them on PC ?

Never knew you could use a 360 controller on a PC.

I was not aware of the fact that the XBOX controllers could be used on a PC. I hav 2 wireless controllers and never had a experience where it interfered with anything else.

No probs running the wired controllrers on PC here, some games even pick them up automatically like NFS Carbon. For older games get an app called Pinnacle Game Profiler which will let you map any button to whatever keyboard or mouse action you choose, with different profiles for different games.

Thanks, was the confirmation I was looking for. Pity about not being able to use the others though, apart from moving the PCs to different rooms, which is NOT gonna happen

By "others" do you mean the wireless 360 controllers?

As far as I know you should be able to use both in the same room.

The problem between your PC and your 360, is that the controllers are already "paired" with the 360. So the 360 knows them, you them "pair" them with the Wireless receiver in your PC and bam... problems.

With the two PC's in the same room, just "pair" one controller with the one PC, and the other controller with the other PC. That way there should be no interference.

Remember when you bought your second controller you first had to pair it with the xbox before it actually worked? Well as far as I know the wireless receivers work in the same way. So if you don't wanna use both controllers on both PCs then you shouldn't have a problem.

EDIT: sorry... used the word "pair" for lack of a better term... :p

:D Was just checking whether the xbox was male or female.

What worries me is that on each PC you'll have a wireless receiver, so 2 receivers within 3m of one another. Will the wireless controller pick up the closest one, or anyone...at random ? Guess I'll have to buy 1 more receiver (already have 1) and try it. If it doesn't work, I just need 1 wired receiver extra

See the thing is, on the back of the controller there is a little button with a sign that looks like this: o))) and on the receiver (at least the one i have) there is a similar button.

Now to get the controller to work with the receiver, you press the button on the receiver, and then press the button on the controller. This "teaches" the receiver to listen for signals from that specific controller. In other words if this process was done with only one of the controllers on a specific receiver, the other controller will not work on that receiver.

IIRC, the xbox manual (yeah, I actually glanced at it) - or it might have been the manual thingy with the extra controller, said that if you pair an already paired controller with another xbox, you will have to re-pair it with the first xbox when you wanted to use it there again. I'm assuming it would work the same way with the PC receiver.

You only need ONE wireless receiver on your PC btw. They can support up to 4 wireless devices of any kind :

The MS Wireless Receiver works as a hub for all those lovely cross-compatible Xbox 360 peripherals on Windows. It works with up to four wireless pads, wireless headsets and even the new wireless MS steering wheel.

Take2 had receivers imported from the US. They were much cheaper than the local ones.
