You need an email address without the .co.za at the end, and not to have registered with MSN as South African

The easiest way to do it is via an actual Xbox, then it does all the locale stuff correctly. In he old days you used to be able to change locale settings on Windows Live ID's but I don't think you can anymore. Actually I don't even think you can create the gamertag on Xbox.com either, but you can using Games for Windows Live.

That's exactly it. If you have an Arcade you can still go ahead so long.

That's apparently a fallacy, there's a huge movie that comes with it etc etc, the new Arcades that ship with the NXE preinstalled have 214Mb free. I don't know how they do it, I presume they delete the clip or something.
